The warmer weather is here and with that means all the backyard bbq dinners, baked beans, and homemade creamy coleslaw you will be having — or at least we will.
I finally got my back porch all fixed up and pretty like I want. Now — all it is missing is a brand new grill, which shall be mine before too long. Look how pretty my flowers are!
Everything is finally coming together. I can’t wait to share the whole post with you that I am working on about beautifying your yard on a budget!
Okay — so back to the recipe I wanted to share with you today for Homemade Creamy Coleslaw. When I eat BBQ of any kind — whether it is a slow roasted pork roast, a bbq chicken sandwich, or more — it has to be covered in coleslaw. When you bite into that delicious sandwich and hear that crunch — you know you have reached BBQ heaven.
Here is my recipe for this delicious concoction. And please — DO NOT buy that storebought stuff. Making the dressing is simple and easy. Make it homemade.
- 1 (16 ounce bag) coleslaw mix
- ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons good quality mayonnaise
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- Combine all of the ingredients until mixed thoroughly. Adjust seasoning, if desired. Chill until ready to serve.
- This can be made about two hours in advance, but any longer and it will lose its crunch.
What are your favorite BBQ sides that you make every year?
