One of my favorite past times is spending time with my little furball Tucker. There is just something about having a pet snuggle you when all the rest of the world seems to be at your throat. His kisses and hugs (yes – he gives BIG hugs) brighten my day every day, and I love the way he barks and shakes when he wants my attention.
Because I love spending so much time with him, I thought I would share with all of you 5 Ways To Enjoy Some Down Time With Your Pet. Using these activity ideas will definitely get some snuggle time in with your little pooch 🙂
5 Ways To Enjoy Some Down Time With Your Pet
Go On a Walk
This one is definitely a no brainer. Taking your dog on a walk is not only good for your pet, but it is also good for you too! Tucker doesn’t play much (he is just not into all the rough housing), so I have to find ways to give him some exercise, so in the afternoons, after dinner, he gets to put on his fancy new harness and he and I go for a walk.
Play in the Snow
Tucker and I love playing in the snow in the winter time. He is THE weirdest little guy ever. He is short anyway, so when it snows deep, he loves to “hop” through the snow and chase snowballs that get thrown his way.
Last year though, he decided that his favorite place while all the snowball games were going on was right in my arms. Of course, I obliged cause I just LOVE snuggling him.
Take a Nap
On days when the weather is bad and my eyes are droopy, you will find me and Tucker all snuggled up on the couch asleep. He is not like most dogs — who sleep by their owner’s feet. No — he has to be right in my arms or close to my head.
Taking a nap for both of you is a great down time activity. Sleep helps refresh your mind, so that you can function later on in the day.
He is the best little snuggler ever.
Play Dress Up
Okay — so your pet may not be like mine, but my dog and my daughter’s cat likes getting new outfits, so we play dress up from time to time. We pull out all the outfits we have (and believe me — we have all kinds from Santa and a pumpkin, to Yoda and Woody).
Whenever I am working, or watching a movie, or whatever I am doing, Tucker always finds a way to come and snuggle me. He wants to be by my side every single moment of the day — and I am totally okay with that.
One last tip for you regarding some downtime with your favorite pet — give them treats that say “I Love You”, like these yummy Savory Jerky Treats from Nutrish I just recently shared. I love this brand more than any other I have ever given to my pets before. They love and care that goes into the food and treats they offer is exactly what I look for in a pet brand — and to know that the proceeds made all go to help rescue dogs, well that’s a win-win in my book.
