I am a lover of Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. I created these little Philly Cheesesteak Sliders to help cut down on the calories and they were a HIT with all my family members!
When I was out grocery shopping the other day, I found this huge pack of chuck steaks on markdown for only $3. I knew that I could use my Kitchenaid Meat Grinder attachment to make hamburger meat with part of it, but when I rounded the veggie aisle and saw that they had green bell peppers on sale for only .25, I knew that I wanted to make a delicious cheesesteak of some kind.
I love the marbling in the meat. It makes for a great tender sandwich, and if you want to bump the flavor up in the meat, add Worchesershire Sauce to it. It tenderizes it and adds flavor.
While your meat is marinating, slice up your onions and bell pepper to saute in the pan.
Once you get the sliced up, add butter to your pan and then low and slow, saute them. This will cause your onions to get very caramelized and have this amazingly creamy texture. It will also give your green peppers the time they need to get cooked through like a Philly Cheesesteak pepper should be.
I cannot stand crunchy peppers on my food.
While your onions and peppers are cooking, grab another pan and cook your meat. Just dump it into your frying pan and within about 5-7 minutes, your meat should be done.
Once it is done, just set it aside until your onions and peppers get done cooking.
Now — you can assemble your sandwiches.
First — turn your broiler on and toast your slider buns. Once they are toasted, pull them out and top with the meat.
Once you have your meat on, then add your cheese. Now — let me just say this about cheese. Don’t buy the junk cheese. You can afford the good cheese — if you only buy the amount of slices needed for your sandwiches. Just have them cut it a bit thicker like I did. I bought 6 really good slices and broke them up over all my sliders. The cheese cost me about $2.
Stick it back under the broiler until the cheese melts and gets nice and bubbly. Then — top it with your peppers and onions for the perfect little bite size Philly Cheesesteak Sliders.
- 1 pound of chuck steak sliced thin
- ½ cup of Worchestershire Sauce
- 1 onion sliced thin
- 1 green bell pepper sliced thin
- 6 slices of provolone cheese
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Slider buns
- Slice your onions and green bell pepper in thin strips. Set aside.
- Shave your steak into thin slices and marinate in the Worchestershire sauce. Set aside.
- While meat is marinating, cook your onions and peppers in the butter on medium heat until caramelized and translucent. Set aside.
- Turn broiler on and toast buns. Set Aside.
- In a medium frying pan, put meat and marinade and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until meat is cooked medium.
- Take meat off of stove and place on top of buns.
- Top meat with cheese and place under the broiler until cheese is melted, bubbly and the edges have turned brown.
- Top with onions and peppers for the perfect cheesesteak bite!
