I don’t know about you, but life for me has been pretty hectic for the last 4 months. I honestly look forward to the fall for 3 reasons — 1) kids go back to school so our summer youth trips slow way down, 2) Work for me slows down a bit, and 3) we take a fall trip to the beach every September.
Every year I look forward to going to the beach. For me, it is a time where I can unplug from the world and spend some quality time with my family.
A lot of people think that a beach vacation will be too full of sight seeing, going out to eat all the time, and more, but I am here to tell you that is the farthest thing from the truth.
Here are 5 reasons why you and your family will LOVE a beach vacation.
Nothing says relaxation to me more than being on the beach. I grab my latest book I happen to be reading, a towel, some sunglasses, and a beach chair and I am in perfect heaven.
Notice that I did not say I grab my Kindle. The reason for that is because I love to unplug while I am on my vacation — and that brings me to point #2.
During our beach vacation, we unplug from all social media. We only use our phones to take photos, and make calls. Other than that, we unplug and enjoy the scenery.
One of my favorite things to do is to get up before everyone else, pour myself a cup of coffee, and sit on the balcony of our vacation rental home.
3. Family Bonding Time
As your kids get older, like mine are(17 and 20), family bonding time gets smaller and smaller. When they were little, it was easy because we dictated their schedules, but as kids get older, they get jobs and have lives of their own, so getting your family together for a little one on one time is perfect — and that’s where that beach vacation comes in.
4. Getting Back to the Basics of What Vacation is All About
Vacation time is meant to explore, visit with family, and rest. Vacation is not a time for you to work, or busy yourself with phone calls, etc. For many families these days, they head out on vacation, only to have the mom or dad spend some of that time working.
I have even fallen prey to that. But — we all need to get back to the basics of what vacation is all about — FUN.
5. Food, Fun, and Family
Okay — you cannot go on a beach vacation without eating at some fabulous places. One of our favorite past times is discovering restaurants that are only local to that area.
In fact, one of our favorite locations that we have found so far is The Gulf, located in Orange Beach, Alabama. This restaurant is totally made out of shipping containers. The view is of the Alabama Point, and I LOVE that every bit of the seating is outdoors.
So there you have it — 5 reasons you need to get your family to the beach this fall!
