I have been working my butt off for about 2 months now at the gym. I am doing my best to get myself in shape, but some of my food choices — especially ice cream — that I have been making of late have pretty much ruined my efforts.
That is why I made these delicious Strawberry Almond Frozen Yogurt Bites to enjoy during the heat of the summer. I made them using this new product from Quaker — Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups– that has creamy yogurt and a crunchy granola blend. When cold milk is added — magic happens! It gives me that Crunchy, Cool, Yum flavor that I crave.
I found these while shopping for some breakfast cereal the other day at Walmart. Cold cereal is usually my go to for breakfast, but when I saw these sitting on the shelf, I was intrigued and knew I was going to have to try them out. Eating this was like nothing I have ever tasted before.
I purchased a couple of different flavors — strawberry almond and then cinnamon and apple. Both are two of my favorite flavor blends. This is the first shelf-stable convergence of granola, fruit and yogurt – all in a single serve cup!
I decided after trying one as is — just adding milk to it — that I would take it and try making frozen bites out of it.
You see for me — having that ice cream taste in the evening after I have had a workout — is like heaven to me.
Seriously — these are the most delicious little frozen bites I have ever had in my entire life.
It uses two ingredients — the Quaker Real Medley cup and then milk and that’s it.
Simply mix the two together and let it set for a couple of minutes.
Now, at this point, you can eat it just like it is — OR you can do what I am about to show you — freeze them in bite size bites!
Scoop out in spoonfuls and place on a silicone mat on a baking sheet (or you can use parchment paper) and then pop them in the freezer for about 30 minutes to an hour.
When they are done, you get these little frozen bites full of fresh strawberry chunks, creamy yogurt, and crunchy granola.
Your ice cream loving habit will thank me for these!
- 1 cup of Quaker Real Medley Yogurt and Granola Blend of Your Choice
- Mix together the milk and Quaker Real Medley according to package directions.
- Let it set for 2 minutes.
- Take a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper or silicone mat.
- Scoop out in spoonfuls onto the mat and then place in the freezer for about 30 minutes to an hour.
- Enjoy where you would normally have ice cream or frozen treats!
This recipe only has 290 calories in the WHOLE thing, which means if you make bites out of it, you can have a guilt free sweet treat that is frozen and believe me — you will NOT be reaching for the ice cream later.
Find varieties like Strawberry Almond, Apple Cinnamon, and Raspberry Pecan at your local Walmart store in the cold cereal aisle.
I’m headed back for more Quaker Medleys to keep them on hand for a yummy breakfast and to keep these handy frozen bites on hand at all times!
