I love hosting game night at my house. During the holidays, my house becomes the hub for football parties, holiday gatherings, and game night. We pull out all of our board games and I make a lot of yummy foods to share with my friends and family.
Sometimes though, we plan at the last moment and I don’t have time to bake and cook, so when that happens, I turn to some of my favorite foods that scream family and are super easy to bake. one of my favorites right now is Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies and Reddi-Wip®.
These pies are so inexpensive and take less than an hour to bake so they are perfect for any quick get together you happen to be throwing.
Of course, if you know me, then you know that just serving pie is never enough for me because the crew that I hang out with love two things — coffee and ice cream, so I decided to make a super quick and easy Coffee Ice Cream which only has 3 ingredients and doesn’t even have to be put into an ice cream maker.
These pies cost around $5 or $6 and can be found in the freezer section at your local Wal-mart. In fact, I wound up going ahead and getting a couple more for the holidays ahead (because you know I will be having another game night or get together sooner rather than later).
These pies are also great for giving to someone else as well. If you have a friend who has a very hectic work week, cook them an entire meal, complete with a dessert pie and deliver it. It is kind of like you are pieing it forward (just like paying it forward!)
Here is the recipe for my delicious 3 ingredient coffee ice cream.
- 3 tablespoons of instant coffee
- 1-2 tablespoons of water
- ½ can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- Dissolve the instant coffee in the water.
- Mix together in a small bowl the sweetened condensed milk and coffee.
- Pour that in a larger bowl with the heavy cream.
- Beat on high with an electric mixer until the mixture becomes pretty thick.
- Transfer to a plastic storage bowl with tight fitting lid and place in the freezer for 3-4 hours or until firm.
Don’t forget to top off your dessert with some yummy Reddi-Wip®. Nothing makes a piece of pie and some ice cream taste amazing like a delicious taste of a dollop of whipped topping.
Now that you have the perfect dessert to share at your next game night — here is a fun tutorial I created for you — a fun and foodie festive game night invitation!
I always use Pic Monkey to create these as it is SO easy and quick to do.
Step 1: Go to PicMonkey.com
Once you get to PicMonkey, click on design and choose the 8×10 option, this way if you want to print it out when you are done, you can. I like to give a full size invitation because they stand out the best.
At this point, you can color your canvas any color you want. I usually leave mine white just like it is because I will be printing it out.
Click on the butterfly to get to the overlays screen. This is where you will add all your cute game night embellishments.
Once you get your overlays added (you just click on the one you want and it adds it to your screen and then you can stretch it to the size you want and choose the color you want, etc), then you can add text to your invitation.
Click on the “T” to add text to your picture.
Anything with a crown beside of it is a premium service and is not free. Everything else is free.
Once you get all your text added that you want, simply save it and print it out for your friends and family.
Having a fun and festive game night is just as easy as that! Check out more pie recipes and print money saving coupons here: http://cbi.as/138u0
