2 days ago, my family started coming down the cold — and we even thought it might be a touch of the flu. My son got it first, running a fever and having a headache and then my daughter got it. I refused to get it myself — and the way that I do that is by keeping certain things handy — right at my fingertips in the winter.
During the winter time, my purse is stocked with all my favorite cold and flu essentials. My husband and I both work for ourselves so we cannot afford to sick when everyone else is coming down with the sniffles.
There are a lot of things I can use, but there are 5 that are my “go to” items every time.
5 Must-Haves in Every Mom’s Bag This Winter
#1 Chloraseptic® spray
Whether you believe it or not, Chloraseptic® spray has been one of my go to items since I was a little kid. I can remember many times during the winter, when I would run to my mom complaining of a sore throat, and out she would pull her bottle of Chloraseptic®.
They are the # 1 sore throat relief brand that provides fast-acting relief for sore throats and mouth pain to help you get through your day.
Not only do we use to keep the sickness at bay, but my daughter also uses it during her band practices. It is great for scratchy throats when you are trying to sing — the liquid helps the girls tackle the pain of strained voices and soothes the scratchiness in the back of their voices.
No mom wants to be caught without a bottle or lozenges in her purse. Be sure to snag this $1.00 off coupon when you go to grab some!
Now — this is something that my husband makes me carry around all the time. I used to tease him a lot about it, but he is the only one in our house that rarely gets sick and it is because he keeps himself sanitized. He has both wipes and a bottle.
Pharmacist Maria Mantione says that we should wash our hands often. Washing your hands with soap and water is the best way to prevent the spread of the common cold.
When he shakes hands with people, or touches something that someone else has touched, you will always find him washing his hands and sanitizing, and now I do it too.
#3 Essential Oils
I just recently hopped on the essential oils band wagon and I use them for everything. I always keep a bottle of Peppermint and Eucalyptus oils in my purse so that whenever I am out and about having a glass of water, I can add a few drops to help boost my immune system.
When a sneeze comes on, you want to make sure you have tissues on hand. Nothing is worse than being out and about and have a huge sneeze and it be a doozy with nothing to wipe on.
#5 My Phone with the Latest Cold and Flu Apps
Yes — there is such a thing. Haven’t you heard about them? Well — there may not be an app, but you can look up the cold and flu tracker on the Chloraseptic website.
It can tell you what the symptoms are and how likely you are to catch the flu in your area. This is something ALL moms need to know and keep in their purse (just use your phone or tablet to visit the Chloraseptic website to find out more)
Chloraseptic® products are available at mass retailers, major drug stores, and grocery stores nationwide. To see the complete line of products and flavors to help keep you feeling your best this cold and flu season, just click here.
