You may not be losing weight even though you are doing everything you are supposed to . . . or so you think. Here is what I have learned in the last few months.
I have been working really hard the last few months to get healthy and get into shape. I have gotten very discouraged along the way though because I have only lost 6 pounds since December. . . and my husband has lost 21 pounds.
Yes — I know that men and women lose weight differently, but I have worked SO hard — eating right, exercising, etc. But I recently read an article that shared 5 things that could be causing my weight loss to stall.
5 Reasons You May Not Be Losing Weight
#1 Stress Levels
One thing that really can cause your weight loss to stall is stress. Honestly — I had never paid attention to that before. Stress releases cortisol which is a weight loss killer according to MyFitness Pal.
Cortisol encourages your body to store fat so find ways to get rid of the stress. You could meditate, listen to music that is uplifting, go shopping or visit with a friend.
If your job is causing stress, then maybe you need to change what you do? Maybe move to a different department or find a different job altogether. Whatever is causing yous stress — get rid of it.
#2 Sleep Habits
Sleep is SO important to weight loss. When you sleep your body is losing weight. Did you know that? I did not, so now — I am going to try and make sure that I get a full 8 hours of sleep.
Sleep balances the hormones in the body that controls your hunger. The GH hormone (which is your growth hormone) encourages fat loss and gets your organs functioning properly which will help you lose weight.
#3 Water Intake
Now — this is one I break more than I should, but the reason that my husband has been losing SO much weight is because of the amount of water he drinks.
You should be drinking half your weight in ounces of water daily to flush out your kidneys. If your kidneys are working properly, then your liver is working properly, which means your metabolism is up and running like it should.
#4 Eat to Heal Your Gut
If your gut is messed up, then you can just forget about losing weight altogether. I recently discovered that because of how I have ate in the past, that I had a yeast overgrowth in my stomach. It is what caused me to be super bloated and feel sickly all the time.
Once I got that under control, the scale started to move, but getting ahold of it is hard. You have to go on a cleanse — and it means eating ONLY fresh fruits, veggies and meats.
I had to give up coffee for a while and all sweets. Those things are what yeast feeds on. So — heal your gut and you will start losing weight.
#5 Fiber, Fiber, and More Fiber
Fiber helps you feel full and it aids in digesting your food, so make sure that when you are eating, you fill up on the veggies first.
It will help you to consume fewer calories, feel full, and will help you to start to lose weight.
So now that you know these 5 tips — which one do you think you need to focus on when it comes to weight loss?
