Winter is great because it means snuggling up on the couch with a hot drink and a cozy blanket. However, outside of this warm center staving off the cold can be tricky. Here are some useful tips to help keep you nice and toasty this winter.
Not everyone will have specialized winter clothing, and not everyone needs them either. You can achieve a similar effect by simply wearing more layers. Instead of the regular coat, sweatshirt, t-shirt combo; consider wearing additional t-shirts or an extra sweatshirt. The more layers you wear, the warmer you’ll be. This is because it will stop the cold air from penetrating through your clothing and it will stop the nice warm air you’ve cultivated from escaping. Before you leave the house think about whether you should throw on an extra layer or two.
The same thing applies to when you are spending time at home. Adding a throw or blanket to the couch or bed means that you get to tuck yourself under it and keep warm. In bed, this means that you won’t need to get a thicker duvet and will keep nice and warm throughout the winter.
Hat, Gloves, Scarf
One of the best things about winter is being able to wear your hats, gloves and scarves, so don’t forget to put them on before going out. It is worth having a few pairs of each in case one gets dirty or wet, and you can’t wear them. Also, it is nice to mix things up and have a different design every now and again. There are few things nicer than being wrapped up lovely and warm in your hat, gloves and scarf.
If you use a phone a lot then consider getting either fingerless gloves or those special ones that let you use your phone screen without needing to take them off, they are great. Wool is a great choice for keeping you warm, and it comes in varying thickness, so you’ll definitely find the right kind for you. If you love woolen clothing that keeps you warm, then you could also get some woolen shoes. These will keep your feet nice and warm on even the coldest day. The wool goes straight from farm to feet, so you know it is 100% wool.
Hot Water Bottles
Hot water bottles are not to be underestimated. A traditional hot water bottle can quickly warm you up whether you are laying down in bed to go to sleep or curled up on the couch in front of a movie. All it takes is some boiling water, and you have yourself a mini heater that you can put on whatever part of you is feeling cold.
There are now also mini hot water bottles that you can take with you when you out. These fit into your pocket, so your hands stay nice and warm. Additionally, they will also heat the rest of your body since they are going to be in your pocket. You can top them up whenever you are able meaning you should never be too far from a nice burst of heat.
