During the holidays, I love throwing festive parties — and I also like attending other parties that people put together. I usually go all out — either a neat Christmas t-shirt I found online, an Ugly Christmas sweater, or — you might even find me with twinkle lights in my hair.
Yes — you heard me right. I add Christmas lights to my hair, and it is super easy to do. I am going to show you how you can create this quick 5-minute twinkle lights updo to wear to your next Christmas get together.
Everyone will LOVE your fun and festive hairstyle. Christmas lights always add joy to any holiday season, am I right?
How to Create a Quick 5 Minute Twinkle Lights Updo
The first thing I usually do is head to Walmart to pick up some hair color. I know — this sounds silly, right? But lately, my gray hairs have been wreaking havoc on my roots section, plus my color is a little dull after the summer.
I like to buy a box of Schwarzkopf® Keratin Color, which you can find at Walmart in the hair color aisle. It offers professional quality hair color at home that offers flattering colors while caring for the hair. It also offers 100% coverage of all my gray hairs, which is a plus for me!
The K-BOND PLEX™ is salon inspired anti-breakage technology and repairs the inner hair structure for strong and healthy looking hair.
I decided to go for the Chestnut Brown color as I knew from looking at the back of the box that it would be a shade darker than my color now. I wanted a deeper reddish brown that was full of shine. You know what they say about redheads right? You can find your perfect shade by clicking here.
Following the directions are simple and easy — it’s a 4 step process.
Start by putting the pretreatment on your ends to make sure you get all over even coverage. Now, mixing the 2a and 2b together, put it all over your entire hair.
Then wait 30 minutes and wash out just like you would if you were shampooing.
Once you rinse out the color, you just condition it and then style it as usual. What’s left behind is a beautiful intense color that will go with any holiday outfit or updo you choose.
I love that I now have even color from root to tip!
Creating Your Twinkle Lights Updo
Creating this adorable hairstyle literally takes 5 minutes, bobby pins, some twinkle lights, and a large hair clip.
Start by clipping your hair and the battery pack up using the hair clip. If you have short hair, you won’t be able to do this. The battery pack should easily slip into your large hair clip.
Now, wrap the twinkle lights around the hair clip. You can use bobby pins to place the twinkle lights all over your hair, around the back. I usually just leave mine wrapped around the hair clip. It looks so fun and festive.
You can spend more than 5 minutes on the updo and really hide the wires throughout your hair, but I am all about easy and festive — and this was a fun way for me to spread a little Christmas cheer!
The Schwarzkopf® Keratin Color really made my hair look lustrous, and the best part? It’s stronger than ever, and according to the box, I will have 80% less breakage. That is a definite win-win for me.
Now — you are ready for an evening out on the town or to hang out with friends and family at your next Christmas event.
