It’s important to create morning habits to set the mood for your day. Here are 5 that are my favorite.
1. Start Your Day with God
Mornings at my home are my favorite time. I love spending time very early while everyone else is asleep soaking in God’s word and praying.
When I get out of bed though, sometimes it is a struggle to just reach for my phone or ipad instead, so I have put a lot of positive messages both in my photos section and in my Kindle library.
This way, my first thought for the day is something positive and uplifting.
While I am reading, I share a thought on Instagram and my other social media accounts. This does two things — it helps me to think, but it also encourages someone else to think.
2. Get Up and Get Dressed
Okay — I will be the first to admit, I am more than capable of lounging in my pajamas all day. But when I do, I don’t look and feel my best hardly at all.
One of the best things I can do for myself is get up and get myself completely dressed.
Spending a quick ten minutes to apply some quick makeup, and putting together a nice outfit helps me feel my best, and ready to take on the day.
3. Exercise is Most Important
If you have been following my blog for the last few months, you know that I have been going to the gym and working out.
At first, I was dead set against going. I mean who wants to sweat and exert energy working out? Then, I started seeing the results of it and now? I LOVE going to work out!
The more I work out, the better feel health wise.
Exercising in the morning increases your productivity and gets your endorphins moving, making you feel more awake and ready to tackle your day.
In fact, working out can increase your mental clarity for anywhere from 4 to 10 hours after you finish exercising. Talk about getting your day started!
4. Make Breakfast a Priority
I am not a breakfast person. I loathe eating, BUT I know that in order for me to have energy throughout the day, I need to eat — and that starts with breakfast.
If you are pressed for time in the morning, try eating a banana or an apple or granola bar. Keep things handy for something on the go.
If you want to really get a great breakfast in, try making a smoothie.
I love to put kale, spinach, high-fiber granola, plain non-fat greek yogurt, frozen strawberries and some almond milk together for a delicious, healthy and high-protein way to start my day.
5. Make Your Morning Bath Time Count
One of my favorite morning routines is taking a shower. The heat relaxes me, and it is during this time that I just stand there sometimes taking in breaths, meditating and relaxing before my hectic morning starts.
But the best part about showering in the morning?
Is when you can get out of the showering smelling like you just stepped off of the beach.
When it comes to body wash, I love scents that remind me of the beach. I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Softsoap limited edition body wash scents, and my favorite scent is Fiji Waves.
You can pick these up at your local Walmart for only $2.99! Can you imagine making your morning smell amazing like this?
Going throughout the day smelling like you just stepped right off the beach is how I like to start my day. What about you?
