“Health is wealth” is a phrase that you may have encountered before. The phrase is simple, but it conveys a lot. Simply put, no amount of money in the world can help you enjoy life if your health is not in tip-top shape. Great health starts with taking care of our bodies and starting a permanent lifestyle change.
While you may think you are okay right now with no health problems to speak of, that may change tomorrow. Take proper care of your body and don’t take your health for granted. Below are some tips for living a healthier life.
#1 Eat Healthy
Love meat and can’t think of giving them up? That’s okay. The body needs protein and meat is an efficient way to deliver much-needed proteins to our bodies. Protein is made up of amino acids, and out of 22 kinds of known amino acids, eight are essential and can’t be manufactured.
That means we have to get them from the food we eat. But that doesn’t mean you should only focus on meat. Having a balanced diet means getting enough servings from all food groups. Fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of vitamins and minerals. Some studies show that people who eat five portions of fruits and vegetables daily have a lower risk of stroke and heart disease. Starchy foods should also make up a third of your meals. Rice, potatoes, and whole wheat pasta provide fiber and minerals.

Vitamins and minerals are crucial to achieving a healthy body system, but sometimes, the vitamins and minerals that we get from our food are not enough to optimally supply what our body needs.

Good health does not only pertain to the body but the mind as well. Studies show that negative thoughts not only increased depression, they also magnified pain sensations. These negative thoughts can also translate to physical symptoms such as headaches, chest pains, digestive problems, and fatigue.
Positive thinking does not mean that you gloss over your problems but rather approach them with an attitude of making the best out of a bad situation. Positive thinking can also provide good benefits to your health such as boosting your body’s immunity, increase lifespan, and prevent the risk of heart problems.
