My family and I will be venturing out at 4am on Friday morning to get our Black Friday shopping on. Now, I will tell you that we are NOT amatuers when it comes to shopping on Black Friday. We have been doing this for a few years and while the first year was a learning experience, every other year afterward, we have been more prepared than ever.
My husband starts about a month before Black Friday and tells us all to make lists of things we are looking and shopping for on this wonderful day. For him, it’s tools. For my daughter, she loves clothes and shoes. My son is a video gamer and has his eyes set on an XBox One. Me? I am the total tech person who loves office supplies, kitchen gadgets, electronics and more.
So — each one of us makes a list and then my husband starts watching the ads. He subscribes to email lists so that we can get special coupons and code alerts for Black Friday and let me tell you — he scores the deals.
While he is busy looking through emails and ads online, I download apps to my phone.
You can find amazing deals on the Office Depot’s Deals Center site too!
I like to get text alerts on my phone because I have them right there at my fingertips, and you know what? Right now, Office Max and Office Depot have some of the lowest prices ever.
Be still my heart.
In fact, on my Christmas shopping list this year is an updated office for me. I want to create a beautiful space where I can work and I know exactly where I will be shopping!
After he and I find all the great deals out there, we then devise our shopping plan. Which stores open first? Will we split up or stay together? How many do we need?
Then the morning of Black Friday arrives. Oh coffee. My sweet beautiful friend.
Since we have teenagers, we pretty much give everyone an item to get at the store and we split up and head for that item. This way, we can get everything on our list. We shop as hard as we can and go, go, go to each and every store on our list. Sometimes, we miss out on the deals and then sometimes we find AMAZING ones that you just cannot get any other time of the year.
Once the shopping frenzy is over, we head to our favorite restaurant and eat a hearty breakfast, and then go home to go through our great deals. And. Then. We. Crash. — HARD.
Black Friday will always be a tradition in our family when we head out and go shopping. It’s a great family time and we thoroughly enjoy the race of trying to get their first.
