One thing about summer that I love more than anything is watermelon flavored ANYTHING. I have used it to make salads, fruit salads, I have grilled it, I have added it to salsa, but my favorite thing to do is to add it to beverages, along with cucumber for a most amazingly delicious flavor!
While we were shopping in Clarksville a couple of weeks ago, I ran into Kroger to grab a few things before heading home. That is when I found a delicious Vintage Sparkling Water beverage that is made with natural fruit flavors and is calorie free.
I grabbed that cucumber melon and ran over to the produce aisle and snapped up some watermelon and cucumber to go with it and headed home to create a beverage to go with dinner.
I was excited to see that these drinks are only $2.99 for a 12 pack.
This beverage is simply delightful to make. The infusion of melon and cucumber along with hints of honey and mint are the perfect combo.
The sparkling water gives it the fizz it actually needs to make it a bubbly type of drink.
I start by pureeing my cucumber and my watermelon in my food processor. Then I run it through the sieve to remove any of the lumps or seeds I might have missed.
Then I make a delicious simple syrup using honey and water. I add a few mint leaves to this mixture and let it steep on the stove until the honey is melted into the water and the mint has permeated the entire drink.
Then I slice up some pieces of cucumber and place in the drink along with a lemon wedge and then top it off with a sprig of Mint.
Served on ice, this is the most perfect drink on a very hot summer day!
