Thank you to Fly By Promotions for sending me a review copy of Dolphin Tale 2. All opinions listed are 100% my own.
From the moment my family and I watched the very first Dolphin Tale, we fell in love with Winter. My daughter more so than anyone because she LOVES dolphins, so when we heard that Dolphin Tale 2 was coming out, we knew it would be a movie that we would be adding to our collection at home.
The entire cast returns in this sequel to Winter’s story, but this time we get to meet Hope and when you see Hope, you will be just like our family and fall head over heels in love with this adorable little dolphin.
And of course, who would not laugh and want to hug that crazy pelican bird Rufus. He is one of my favorite characters from the movie.
Falling in love with dolphins
When my daughter was 3, her dream was to meet a dolphin in person. Finally just last year (my daughter is 16), we were able to make her dream come true when we visited a place where they had dolphins that you could feed, pet, and interact with. It was the highlight of her vacation.
My daughter meeting dolphins up close and personal for the first time.
I think what I love more than anything about Dolphin Tale 2 is that this movie follows the true story of Winter the Dolphin. It is a movie full of fun and adventure without one stitch of cussing, violence, sex, or anything like that. It is a wonderful family movie that would make a great stocking stuffer for your child who loves animals – just like my daughter.
The next time we visit Florida, I think we might even try to make a visit to meet Winter in person and see her up close and personal and watch Winter and Hope together in real life. Now THAT would be an awesome adventure!
About the movie
“Dolphin Tale 2” continues the story of the brave dolphin Winter, whose miraculous rescue and recovery-thanks to a groundbreaking prosthetic tail-made her a symbol of hope and perseverance to people around the world and inspired the 2011 family hit movie “Dolphin Tale.” The film reunites the entire main cast, led by Harry Connick, Jr., Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”), Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Austin Stowell, and, of course, the remarkable dolphin Winter as herself.
Charles Martin Smith, who directed “Dolphin Tale,” wrote the sequel and is again at the helm. It has been several years since young Sawyer Nelson (Gamble) and the dedicated team at the Clearwater Marine Hospital, headed by Dr. Clay Haskett (Connick, Jr.), rescued Winter. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy (Freeman), who developed a unique prosthetic tail for the injured dolphin, they were able to save her life. Yet their fight is not over.
Winter’s surrogate mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only poolmate she has ever known. However, the loss of Panama may have even greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as dolphins’ social behavior requires them to be paired with other dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another aquarium.
Consider adding this fun movie to your collection to watch for years to come!
