Easy, Fall-Off-the-Bone Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Sharing is caring!

These Easy, Fall off the bone oven baked BBQ ribs will leave your pocketbook happy and your tummy full! This is my favorite way to make ribs and honestly, it is the best way in my opinion.

Robert's favorite food in the WHOLE world is baby back ribs! They can be pretty expensive, but I buy mine at Aldi. I got two racks recently — pretty big racks for that matter, and only paid $7 per rack. Not only will your meal be delicious, but you will be frugal as well. If those ribs are out of your budget, you can always sub in spare ribs. They are a cheaper cut and still taste amazing when baked this way.

Prepping the Ribs Before Baking

If this is your first time attempting to cook ribs, then this is as simple as rubbing them down with a BBQ dry rub and wrapping them in foil. Then, let them slowly bake in the oven for about 3 hours.

If you don't have any BBQ rub on hand, in a small bowl, add equal amounts of paprika, chili powder, brown sugar, onion powder, and garlic powder. For a little heat, throw in some cayenne pepper to boot.

Remove the baby backs from the package. On the back of the ribs, there is a thin connective tissue that you need to remove. This thin membrane is called the silver skin. I use a paring knife to get this job done. Then, rinse your ribs under water, pat them dry with a piece of paper towel, and let them come to room temperature.

Once the racks of ribs come to room temperature, rub them down with dry rub. My favorite is my Neely's dry rub recipe.

Bake the Best Ribs Ever in the Oven

I rub them down generously with dry rub, then wrap them tightly in aluminum foil. You can do this the night before and leave them in the fridge until you are ready to cook them.

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees f and bake the foil-wrapped ribs on a large baking sheet for 2-3 hours. The low temperature makes the meat extremely tender. Make sure to bake them with the meaty side down.

By this point, they will be tender and you can pull the bone ribs out. Talk about fall off the bone tender! Slow cooking your meat this way ensures a very tender piece of meat.

Then remove the aluminum foil and slather with your favorite BBQ sauce. You can make this delicious homemade BBQ sauce that has hints of dry mustard in it. It is FABULOUS! For basting, I use this basting brush and bowl on hand for jobs like this.

I like to caramelize mine a bit, so I turn on the broiler and put them underneath the broiler for about 5 minutes. Then I remove and baste again with BBQ sauce before serving. Let them rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing and eating.

The next time you are craving ribs, try baking them in the oven. This is an easy recipe that you won't regret making. Store leftover ribs in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven wrapped in aluminum foil for the best flavor. These are the best BBQ ribs you will ever make. In fact, they are better than any of my favorite bbq

What Can I Serve With These Ribs?

My favorite thing to serve with these ribs is a big bowl of potato salad and a delicious bowl of my Creamy Homemade Coleslaw. They are two of my favorite side dishes. Add in some Slow Cooker White Beans and you will have yourself a delicious dinner!
