This week, we finished up studying about Benjamin Franklin and electricity. We got to conduct an experiment with pennies, dimes, and lemons. We learned how to conduct electricity with lemons. Read on to find out how.
To do this experiment you will need three things —
~Eager children who want to do the experiment
As you can tell, this was somewhat of a non-tasty experiment, but the kids had fun nonetheless.
Simply cut a couple of slits in the lemon, insert the coins like the picture above and then use your tongue to touch the coin. You should feel a jolt of electricity.
This was a fun experiment to do! It wasn’t all that tasty as you can tell from the photos, however, we did receive quite a shock and tingle from the electric charge running through the lemon, thanks to the penny and dime! We are really enjoying this Inventor’s Study!
Be sure to check out my other experiment creating a color wheel using milk, food coloring, and dish soap.
