Homemade Taco Seasoning

Sharing is caring!

I have tried different homemade versions of homemade taco seasoning mix, but none of them tasted “just right”. I couldn't figure out what it was that was making them taste so bland.

But no worries! I kept playing around with it and now I created one that is perfect for just about any protein you want to use to create the perfect tacos.

It works great for chicken, beef, pork–whatever you are trying to spice up for Mexican night!

How to Make Homemade Taco Seasoning

The cool thing about this seasoning mix is that it uses regular old pantry ingredients, and if you do what I suggested in this post and keep a well-stocked pantry — you will be able to make seasoning mixes like this too!

Homemade Taco Seasoning

I store my taco seasoning mix in these super cute Pioneer Woman bowls that come with lids. They keep things fresh for weeks and if you want, you can make up a triple batch to store.

This recipe makes the same amount as one package of taco seasoning mix you find at the store.

Don't forget if you like making your own seasoning mixes, be sure and subscribe to my email list. If you do, you will get a cheat sheet for free that has over 35 spice mix recipes on it.

Because of this recipe, I no longer buy a store-bought taco seasoning mix. I make it up in big batches and keep it in the pantry and then whenever I want to make tacos or fajitas, I simply pull out some and sprinkle it into my meat mixture.

This seasoning mix also is great to add to sour cream when you want to make a Mexican dip for chips and such.
