Jonah at the Sight & Sound Theater in Branson Missouri

Sharing is caring!

We received complimentary admission to Jonah at the Sight & Sound Theater as part of a promotional blogger tour of Branson, MO through the US Family Guide. All opinions are 100% my own.

Out of all the amazing things we did during our time in Branson, none could ever prepare us for the over the top theater production of Jonah at the Sight & Sound Theater.

I don't have any pictures that I can share with you about the performance because we were not allowed to take any photos, but I have many memories of that night and I cannot wait to share them with you.

The Theater

The theater itself is HUGE! From the moment you pull into the parking lot, everything will make your jaw drop. From the eqxsiite statues and gardens outside, to the high ceilings and beautiful decorations inside, you will feel like you are in another place and time and almost as if you are in New York at a big fancy production.

Once you head inside, you will find concession stands and a gift shop full of merchandise that you can purchase. Stephen definitely had to have his souvenoir from here and he got a really cool tye died Jonah shirt.

The Performance

I have read the story of Jonah over and over again since I became a Christian many years ago. When I first found out that my family and I were going to get to see this production, we were extatic.

The lights went down and as soon as the actors and actresses began, I felt like I was being swept away to biblical times. The music was amazing, the sets were SO elaborate and well done, and they even had plenty of live animals to go along with the performance.

If you have ever wondered what it is like to see a Bible story in action, Jonah is one of those that will make you feel like you are part of the action.

Some of the props that they used were HUGE — like this ship for example.

The ship moves all about the whole stage and even at one point, rocks back and forth in a violent storm. Really it is something to see.

But the real beauty — and one that will leave you weeping —

is the minute the entire theater is turned into an underwater sea. When the crew throw Jonah over and he lands in the sea, the sea comes alive with jellyfish, huge sharks, clown fish and more. Sitting in the bottom and NOT in the balcony was such a plus because we really felt like we were right in the ocean.

Is this performance good for kids?

This performance is great for all ages. There is so much interaction and live action going on that there is not that often that little ones get fidgety. However, if your toddler or baby start fussing and need some room to move around, simply visit the family room upstairs and not only does your toddler get to stretch his legs, but you don't have to miss the performance.

Jonah is a performance you will not want to miss at Branson MO

The Jonah performance is brand new to 2014 at the theater and will be playing until December, and may even play into 2015. Tickets are $43 per adult, but if you have 4 in your family, then you can get a family pack of tickets for only $99. That may seem pricey to some, but it is SO worth it. You can get your tickets here.

The concessions are very reasonable as well. We bought 1 coffee, 2 waters, and 2 regular drinks and only paid $10.00. They also offer popcorn, hot dogs, and other concession type foods, which you can eat while you watch the show.

Make plans to go see Jonah. We are already making plans to take some of our church folks back to Branson JUST to see Jonah again.
