What makes you great? Today, I wanted to share a few things about me that you may not know. I am a quirky kind of girl, who walks to the beat of her own drum, and I smile a lot.
I love to crochet — I have an old timey spirit living in me, meaning that if you planted me back into the fifties, I would thrive because that is who I am on the inside.
I am almost 40 and totally okay with that. I love sparkly high heels. I would own 500 pair if I could. I am madly in love with my husband of 20+ years. I feel like we are still newlyweds.
As you can see, there are many things I love about myself. These things make me great. The one thing I did not like about myself was my teeth and my smile and that is getting fixed, so now — I love every inch of me.
That is important for us women. We NEED to love ourselves. So many women these days don’t, and it saddens me that they let the world dictate to them how to love, how to live, and how to thrive.
It’s high time we take that back and start reinventing who we are –it’s time to start feeling great about ourselves again.
73 percent of women have reinvented themselves after turning 40. In fact, 80 percent of women love themselves more now than they did 10 years ago, according to a survey by Wakefield Research for Post Great Grains Cereal.
Most commonly, women who say they’ve reinvented themselves say they have improved their health (50 percent), found a new passion (42 percent), and changed their career (23 percent). They know better than ever that it’s never too late to make a change.
When women pick the best part of getting older, being comfortable in their own skin (38 percent) tops the list, followed by gaining perspective (34 percent), and feeling a sense of security (12 percent).
As for those “learning experiences” along the way? Maybe they weren’t so bad after all. 86 percent of women agreed that their mistakes that led to failures were worth the learning experience.
