Summer is almost over and that means we will be back to really early mornings, school prep, lesson planning, and more. My days can get hectic pretty quick. For me, on those days, I can get pretty overwhelmed fast, however, if I stop and take time in the morning — before my entire day gets so hectic, then I feel like my day runs a bit more smoothly. Some of my favorite Nestle products play a huge roll in that (cue the coffee music), so today I wanted to share with you a few of my tips on how I take time out in the mornings for myself — before all the chaos gets started.
How to Take Time Out For You — Before Your Hectic Day Gets Going
1. Enjoy a hearty breakfast
Eating a hearty breakfast before anyone else gets up will get you full and focused for the day ahead. I know how grumpy I get if I wake up and I am hungry. Many times I snap at someone because my tummy is growling, where if I had just taken a bit of time to eat something, I would feel so much better.
While I was at Walmart the other day picking up some clearance clothes (score for $1.00 blouses), I took a stroll down the frozen food aisles to see if I could find some meals that I could make pretty quickly. On the entree aisle, I found these yummy Stouffer’s Sausage and Egg Scramble.
Stouffer’s use simple, quality ingredients like real eggs and cheese and combine them to make an irresistible dish. The dish is also under 400 calories, so it makes a great start to the day if you are trying really hard to stay within a certain calorie count — not to mention that they are delicious!
2. Catch up on some reading
I always use my mornings to catch up on some reading. I do a lot of book reviews, so I always have my nose stuck in a good book. I can’t concentrate in the evenings though because the television is on, or I am having to make dinner, so I choose to read early in the morning while enjoying my breakfast.
3. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the quiet morning hours
I love taking my Coffee-Mate creamer, My Taster’s Choice instant coffee, and going out on the back porch to watch all the hummingbirds early in the morning. My porch is so peaceful, it allows me to just breathe for a moment and enjoy all the silence around me.
Two of my favorite Coffee-Mate flavors are Caramel Macchiato and French Vanilla. You will never catch another brand of creamer in my refrigerator. I have tried many others, but I always come back to Coffee-Mate. The creamers can be found in the cold case of the dairy section in Walmart, and the Taster’s Choice can be found on the coffee aisle.
4. Find a book of encouraging quotes or daily encouragement
I have a book that I read every day. It is filled with stories, encouragement, scriptures, and hope to help start my day. It is the one thing that I know I can read every morning that gives me a little bit of food for thought.
5. Enjoy the morning with someone special
Sometimes, my husband gets up bright and early with me and we sit on the back porch and enjoy a cup of coffee as well. We talk about the week ahead, anything he needs me to get done for him, and more.
Whether you have a full week or not, I encourage you mom to take some time out for yourself. You don’t realize just how important those quiet moments are — until you don’t have any quiet moments to spare.
What about you? What do you do to take a moment for yourself? Do you have a #MyGoodLife story you can share?
