Take a Ride on the Sail Wild Hearts

Sharing is caring!

Sail Wild Hearts is the perfect dolphin tour you can take while visiting Gulf Shores, Alabama. Read on to learn more and make plans to visit.

While my family and I were in Gulf Shores this time around, we decided we wanted to take a dolphin cruise.

I was a little apprehensive about finding one that would work for my mother-in-law since she uses a walker. However, the Sail Wild Hearts 53-foot catamaran made her first boat ride a wonderful experience to remember.

I was a little worried when we pulled up because the walk was so long. But if you call in advance, they will have a wheelchair waiting for you to get you from the walkway to the boat.

I spoke with the captain of the boat and explained my mother in law's situation and he assured me that they would get her on the boat.

We were all a little apprehensive, but the crew went above and beyond to make sure that she got on the boat. They were SO patient with her and helped her every step of the way. I knew right then and there that this cruise was special — that these people were caring and loved helping their passengers to have a great time.

Getting On Board

Once you get on board, they have all kinds of complimentary snacks available for you to eat. They range from fresh fruit and veggies with hummus to chocolate chip cookies and crackers and cheese. They even have all kinds of drinks for you to choose from as well.

The cool thing about this huge 53 foot catamaran is that you can stand up on the top and watch the sunset and the dolphins playing, or you can relax on the front while sailing the waters.

We saw a TON of dolphins while on our cruise, but my favorite is the shot I caught of the dolphin jumping out of the water.

The captain and crew were absolutely fabulous. They were very informative and we loved watching them sail us into the bay and gulf waters.

My husband and I decided to head out on the top deck to check out the sunset. I got a bit seasick. However, the crew was quick to give me something to help ease the pain. After that, I was able to enjoy my cruise.

The cruise lasts about 2 hours. If you have more time to spare, you totally should do the Blue Angels Sail. It is a 6-hour cruise that includes enjoying gravity-defying displays of aerial drills. This is done by the world-famous Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s precision flying team.

Also this winter, they have a Sail with Santa and his elves cruise! Cookies, eggnog, bottled water & soft drinks will be served along with candy canes for the kids at heart. Photos with Santa and the captain will be available.

[…]   “Sail Wild Hearts really showed me that they value me as a customer. They went over and above by making sure that my mother-in-law was able to get on the boat. She has a really hard time climbing stairs so they assured me they could get her on and off – and they did! Just them going the extra mile to make her comfortable and making sure she enjoyed her first-ever boat ride just blessed our family beyond measure.” -Jennifer Sikora, Jen Around the World. This looks like such a fun day trip! I get easy boat sickness so I am not sure if it is for me, but I'd give it a shot with some meds!

Yeah - it's not so bad if you take meds before getting on the boat -- and DON'T go down in the gulley to use the bathroom. That is what did me in for a while, but once I got it under control it was great!
