If you are tired of running yourself ragged this holiday season, you can give yourself an opportunity to change your routine in a flash by teaching yourself how to slow down and take it easy. As a busy woman, we can sometimes give so much of ourselves that we forget to take time for us too.
Check out these 5 ways that I love to enjoy a lazy day. These are some of my most favorite things in the world to do!
5 Ways to Enjoy a Lazy Day
1. Watch a movie
One of the best ways to enjoy some downtime is to watch a movie. It will help you spend a couple of hours in front of the screen without moving around or making an effort to disturb anyone else for your entertainment.
Be sure and choose your favorite movie. If you’re planning to choose a new movie to watch, make sure that you’re in the mood of watching a movie of your preferred genre. For me, that happens to be a romcom (romantic comedy for short).
2. Read a book
I love to read — a lot. In fact, I share a reading list every month of books I plan on reading.
When we talk about reading a book, we often think of some of the most commonly read books or something we have read and loved. However, this is not the right thing to do if you’re want to simply spend some time reading something that can uplift your spirits.
While re-reading a favorite book is okay, utilize your time to learn something new and step out of your comfort zone. It’s always good to try a new genre, so, read something new and feel good about it, as you enjoy a lazy day.
3. Cook your favorite meal
Y’all know how much I love cooking and how much peace and joy it brings me. Plan to make your favorite meals at home on a day you have some downtime.
If you want to try something new, consider it because it will help you in enjoying a delicious meal that you didn’t know existed before making an effort to make it.
However, you might need the necessary equipment for it. For example, if you’re planning to make a BBQ brisket, make sure that you have a barbecue grill and get an idea about smoking a brisket. This is not difficult, and you should try it to enjoy the meal at home.
4. Catch up with your friends
If your friends are free and would be willing to be a part of a get-together, this is one of the best ways in which you can spend your time with nostalgia. Hanging out with your bestie is a good way to relive your memories and talking about the past.
It has many benefits attached to it, and you should know that you might even end up with tears of joy. Life is busy, but we can go back and relive the memories that truly bring a smile on our face when we are with friends.
5. Help someone
Volunteering has always had a soft spot in my heart. Think of different ways in which you can help someone and make yourself feel good about it.
You can serve in a soup kitchen, help by being a Christmas angel, pack a shoe box — whatever it is that makes you feel good during the season and will help give you some downtime.
So there you have it! 5 amazing ways to spend a lazy day that will not only help you enjoy the season as well as giving back to others.
