A majority of big-name attractions of Dubai can be fun, both for children as well as for the parents. Not only will they keep the younger brood entertained, but the family as a whole is certain to have a wonderful outing.
So here are seven top day fun family outings where entire family can have an amazing time.
#1 Have a great learning experience at KidZania
Family holidays in Dubai are incomplete without spending a day at KidZania located in the glittering Dubai Mall. This educational environment actually resembles a mini metropolis, especially catered for children, where they are encouraged to perform certain activities which are normally in the domain of the adults.
This made-up city has all the infrastructure like hospitals, factories, markets and even a police station. Children can choose any of the 80 odd jobs on offer if they want to step into the shoes of their seniors and experience their dream careers.
KidZania is situated on Level Two of the Dubai Mall and is open from 10am to 11pm seven days of the week. Depending on the ticket option you choose, the entry ticket to KidZania can range from roughly 69 to 245 AED.
The best way to get there is by the Red Line Metro from Bur Dubai to the Dubai Mall station. A long air-conditioned bridge connects the metro station with the Mall. Approximate journey time is twenty minutes.
#2 Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
This is easily one of the leading family attractions of Dubai. Kids, especially, get an opportunity to get close to a large variety of marine life, ranging from stingrays to sharks among others.
The two top draws here, to be found nowhere else in the world, are the large suspended aquarium tanks and the huge collection of Sand Tiger Sharks. This unique interaction with underwater marine life gives a big thrill to the children and the adults as well.
The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo tour combined offers the whole family an unusual day out, away from the heat, but one which mixes adventure with education amazingly.
This must visit place is located on the ground and at Level Two of the Dubai Mall and remains open from 10am to 2 pm daily. Purchasing a combo ticket for both the theme places, allows one to avail of a 20% discount.
#3 Go-karting at the Dubai Autodrome
Children and grownups alike will have a simply awesome time out at the Dubai Autodrome when they will experience the thrills of driving in a safe environment. #4 Atlantis Palms, Dubai
This totally family oriented hotel has all the activities which guarantee full satisfaction for the whole family. While the parents can spend the day taking part in outdoor sports or getting pampered at the spa, the children can splash around at the Aquaventure Water Park or interact with dolphins at the Dolphin Bay.
Aquaventure, was thrown open to the general public in 2008, and has since progressed into a primer place for families to spend the day. Guests can enjoy a combination of slides, meandering rivers and a series of rapids, all in a large water Scape. The Dolphin Bay is a hit with families, as they get a chance to swim and get close to dolphins, apart from taking part in other activities.
#5 Ski Dubai
This is another favorite with young and old alike, who wish to enjoy unique activities in a snowy setting. This major indoor ski resort of the Middle East has something for everyone, from a beginner to a professional skier. Apart from skiing, guests have the option to go snowboarding or tobogganing, on real snow, on all days of the year.
While the children are busy skiing or building snowmen, parents can shop to their heart’s content at the Emirates Mall. The ski school present inside the park, provides valuable lessons to the young ones to learn the basics of this extremely popular sport.
#6 Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary
For those families who love nature, the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect getaway to spend a full day among the feathered friends, and that too in the middle of the city.
The 6 km square miles of wetland features a variety of habitat suitable for a number of bird species. This protected area is recognised as an important birding site by Bird Life International, and the Dubai Municipality plays a major role in its preservation.
Children will just love to see the thousands of flamingos here, which occupy the centre stage. The wetland also serves as a home for many mammals, crustaceans and fish. Other birds which roost here include grey herons, egrets, reef herons, sandpipers, osprey, and many other waders.
The bird hides located on the periphery of the sanctuary are a great place for the public to watch these birds on their natural habitat.
#7 Children City
This 80,000 square feet of educational play area set aside exclusively for children is a great draw with all age groups. The City is located in Bur Dubai, within the Dubai Creek Park.
The Children City provides a wonderful learning experience to children between the age groups of two to fifteen years. Some popular activities which are found here range from outer space to science to the human body and beyond.
This Dubai based project, is the first of its kind in the Middle East, devoted entirely to provide useful and valuable lessons to children. The City operates round the year and is specifically designed for children to interact with other groups on the fields of space exploration, nature, culture, etc. Students and families can take part in workshops, which are run daily at the Children’s City Theatre based on the various galleries.
As we all must have learnt by now that Dubai is fun for all ages, maybe a little bit on the expensive side. Having said that, this is offsetted by the many attractive family day out options to choose from, that it is considered to be money well spent for the entertainment and welfare of the young ones.
