You researched sunscreens and figured out what SPF will be suitable according to the climate. All the documents are ready. You have never looked more forward to a trip.
But then you land and find yourself catching a cold within the first few days. All of your friends are tanning at the beach, but you’re in bed with stomach cramps and a mountain of used tissue papers.

Avoid overwork before vacation
There is a scientific term called ‘leisure sickness’. Often people overwork the weeks leading up to vacation and end up experiencing a burnout when the vacation is actually here. This makes you prone to illnesses, and unable to enjoy the sights.
One thing you can do is to do your best to manage your deadlines effectively before leaving work. Don’t pile up all the stressful work for the last few days before your vacation begins.
You’ll end up fretting about getting it all done within time. Believe me, you’ll have plenty to do as it is from packing and vaccination and last minute shopping. Make sure the workload in the days leading up to your trip is less.
Resting When You Arrive
Look up online reviews and book a hotel that is rated high for comfort. Go out to all the tourist attractions but also rest well. Don’t go anywhere straight from the airport after you land after a long flight. Order room service and a bottle of wine. Have a warm bath and a good sleep before going out.
Keep a medical kit
Do not forget to bring along a first aid and medical supplies kit. Keep it in your hand carry throughout the trip.

Eat and drink smart while on your beach vacation
Keep yourself hydrated at all times. Take a water bottle before you head off to the beach and drink at least two liters every day. Locate restrooms on the premises as you may need to pee often.
Cocktails and alcohol-based beverages are part of the fun at a beach holiday. However, they should be had in moderation. Instead, buy fresh juices from a juice bar and sip on those. They will be hydrating as well as refreshing. You can also request vendors to make them with fresh pulp.
Avoid street food unless you can vouch for the cleanliness of the premises where the food is being prepared. When you have to eat it, prefer cooked food over cold salads and sandwiches.
If you are staying with a friend, prefer home cooked meal over eating out. Often people end up with stomach bugs when they’re vacationing because they have to eat out every time. Avoid harsh weather
On particularly hot or rainy days, avoid going out to the beach. Look for local museums or malls that you can check out.
When it is sunny, lounge under a shady umbrella on the beach and slather on plenty of sunscreens for protection. A pair of good sunglasses isn’t a bad investment either.
