Crockpot Apple Cider – the perfect fall beverage

Sharing is caring!

I love it every year when I can make a new apple recipe. This year, I finally got around to making Crockpot Apple Cider. If I would have known how easy it was to make this, I would have done it a lot sooner!

This crockpot apple cider is made from scratch using delicious fresh apples, cinnamon sticks, and some warm spices for the perfect fall beverage in a cup.

Of course, I store this delectable juice in the refrigerator in the new Ball Amber Canning Jars.

Ball canning jars are my go-to for everything! I use them to store taco salads in the refrigerator, make homemade dressings like my Olive Garden Salad Dressing, and I use them to make gifts in a jar every holiday season!

Now that I have the new amber canning jars, my mind is running wild with all the things I can make and store in these beautiful jars!

I mean look at that beautiful golden color.

The glass jar’s amber color blocks out food-damaging UV light and the wide mouth design is ideal for preserving large fruits and vegetables or for easy access to stored items.

They come in three sizes — 64-ounce, 32-ounce, and 16-ounce sizes. I can see using the 64-ounce for storing flour, sugar, or beans and rice.

Okay — so let's get down to this delicious recipe for Crockpot Apple Cider.

How to Make Crockpot Apple Cider

8 each Gala Apples, cored and quartered
4 each cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
9 cups of water
1 cup of orange juice
1/2 cup brown sugar

Place your quartered apples into a slow cooker. Add in cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and allspice in there and pour in the water and orange juice.

Cook the cider on high for 3 hours. After 3 hours, take a potato masher and mash the apples. Add in brown sugar. Cook an additional 1-3 hours on low.

Yes — it does take several hours to steep and cook in the crockpot, but I promise in the end it will be worth it.

Strain the solids from the liquids. Discard solids or use them to make apple muffins, etc.

I love all the uses for Ball jars... we always think we have enough and then each year buy more because we find different uses for them. My mom made over 100 jars of spaghetti sauce this fall from her garden, I also make laundry soap and put it in jar.

I've never used our crockpot to many anything to drink. It's always stews and the like. I guess I didn't realize it could be used for that!
