Trekked up Clingman’s Done in the Smoky Mountains

My husband and I are both in our mid-forties. I just turned 44 and my husband will be 47 in December. We made a pact to each other a few years ago that we were going to start doing more things together. However, life has gotten in the way, and those dreams have laid dormant — up until now — and here’s why.
A couple of years ago, his mother moved in with us so that we could take care of her. She had a long list of medical conditions that riddled her body with pain. Even though she was dealing with all of this, she still found a way to smile through it all.
But when she got really sick, it all happened so fast — the hospital stay, the nursing home stint, the intensive and cardiac care stay — and then she was gone. Just like that. In the span of two short months, she went from being this lively woman who loved laughter and joy more than anything to a woman so racked and riddled with pain, she couldn’t speak or move.
Her death has shaken all of us. My husband and I have been blown away by how quickly she was gone. And just like that — we knew right then and there that we needed to rethink our dreams of doing more together.
After watching her slip away from us so fast, we both decided that we did not want to just sit by and watch everyday speed by us in a blur. We want to do something to commemorate each moment that we spend doing something amazing with each other.
We flew to Boston last year to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.
Because of that, we decided to create an awesome bucket list of things we want to accomplish before we both turn fifty. If you can count that, it’s only 3 short years. Yes — it may sound crazy, but my husband and I are not willing to let another moment slip by, because life is short and you honestly never know when your time will be up.
Our very first carriage ride together in Pigeon Forge, TN.
Of course, being in my forties, my body doesn’t work as it used to in my twenties. I feel aches and pains from just going on a 3-mile walk with my family, but you know what? I don’t have to worry about anything because I know that Aleve Back & Muscle Pain has got my back.

We have been talking back and forth about all the amazing things we want to accomplish before we turn 50, and this is the list we have come up with — 25 AWESOME things to do.
Took a pottery class together during my birthday trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama
My advice to you is this — don’t let pain hold you back from doing what you love. Start living life on purpose because we all know that our time here on earth is not guaranteed. Make the most of it while you can.
