My kids have always loved getting in the kitchen cooking with me. My daughter, who is now almost 17, can cook a full meal just as good as me. I think it has to do with training her from when she was little. I used to let her stir pots when she was too little to chop things, and then teaching her how to do the little things.
They have always loved getting in the kitchen and trying new recipes. My son learned how to make cheeseburgers when he was 9 years old. I wanted him to be able to fend for himself.
I saw many teenagers who did not even know how to boil water, and for me, that was not okay with me. I wanted to make sure that my kids knew how to cook so that when they got old enough to move out on their own they could take care of themselves without having to eat fast food every single day.
Having your kids learn how to cook while they are young will help them as they get older in life. Trust me — my kids are the perfect example of that 🙂
