When we have a vacation coming up, what do we do? Six to eight weeks prior to our vacation, we will put ourselves on the strictest of diets to lose weight before the trip.
Once we actually go on vacation, we throw out all the fitness habits we originally started to lose weight in the first place… By the time you come home from your vacation, you actually weigh more than you did before you started losing weight for the vacation! This madness has to stop.
All too often, we make the decision to change our lifestyle and transition to a healthier lifestyle, but when vacations or trips out of town come up, we tend to fall by the wayside… Why is that? Traveling is simply a matter of geography… Some people like to say, that their gym isn’t in the city they’re traveling to; Well, what does that have to do with anything? Who says you have to be in the gym to exercise?
What it all boils down to are excuses. Now, that’s not saying that you have to be absolutely miserable on your vacation eating salads every day, but that’s also not saying to blow your healthy habits out the water either, because when you do, it’s not only hard to start those healthy habits back up, but it’s also hard to lose the weight you gained back too.
There are indeed ways to maintain your health and fitness habits while traveling, despite what you may think. When you make the decision to change, it becomes a part of you and you carry it with you everywhere you go. If you have allergies, would that stop you from traveling? No, you would take proper precautions to maintain your allergies while traveling, right? Well, taking the necessary precautions to maintain your health and fitness habits have that same theory as well.
Take a look at these top tips to travel and maintain your healthy habits.
Get Your Daily Intake of Greens
If you’re going on a road trip and staying in a hotel room, there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t drink your daily green juice cleanse as you always have. Simply bring a cooler with you and keep enough in there for the duration of your trip. Now, if you’re flying out somewhere, it may be hard to carry your juices with you so you’ll just want to make sure you order a vegetable with every meal.
Don’t Forget About Your Water Intake
If you’ve been drinking 60 to 90 ounces of water every day but then go on vacation to Hawaii, that’s not a free pass to drop the ball on drinking water… In fact, in hot places like Hawaii, you want to drink even more water because not only will it be hot there but you’ll probably be having alcoholic beverages while you’re there and that’s just going to dehydrate you even more. So whether you’re at home or in a different city, state, or country, never neglect drinking water.
Workout Anywhere You Can
If you have a daily habit of working out every morning at 6 am, why would you stop just because you’re going on vacation? Now, because you’re on vacation, that doesn’t mean you have to wake up at 6 am, but it does mean you should still get your morning workout in, even if it means sleeping in and doing it after you wake up… As long as you get it in.
This can be done in hotel fitness centers, hotel pools for pool aerobics, jogging in a nearby park or on the beach, or simply doing an exercise video in your hotel room from your phone on YouTube will work too! There’s really no excuse.
