A few months ago, I made the proclomation that I was going to lose 50 pounds this year. For me, that seemed like such a daunting task that it almost stalled me in my getting healthier goals. Since that time, I have made some serious changes to my lifestyle and I am happy to say that after 5 months, I am starting to see some progress.
Honestly — I am not one of those people who drastic things to lose weight or get healthy, but I wanted to get really serious about my overall health. I have not been that serious about it up to this point, but I know more than ever it is time.
Everyone of us needs to take care of our bodies. Don’t be so forceful that you run yourself in the ground. Take time to pull back and do some things that you love — get a massage, pedicure, manicure, read a book, go swimming, lay in the sun, go shopping — do something for you!!! It’s ok to rest your soul for a bit. The house and the world will not fall apart if you take an hour for yourself #selfcare
So here's what's been going on and the changes that have been happening for me.
I have been doing more and more yoga. It makes me feel great and I love being able to just close my mind off to the world around me for an hour a day and just focus on myself and the me I want to create.
Even when I was at Mom 2.0 this year, I got to do a morning of yoga in the beautiful California sun and it made me feel amazing.
Yoga has always been one of my number one ways to make wiser choices for my life.
This is one I really struggle with daily. More water is THE ONLY WAY to really lose weight and flush things out of your body. Not only will your skin look great, but your body will feel so hydrated.
My goal is to drink at least 10 glasses of water a day — and believe me, I have to CONSTANTLY remind myself to drink, drink, drink.
Cutting Things Out of My Diet
I have been working on cutting things out of my diet, like sweets, potato chips, snacks, tons and tons of bread – and I will be honest with you. I don't miss them — at all.
I thought I would, but after realizing how they were affecting me, I don't miss them at all. Now, when I want something sweet, I grab a piece of fruit– the sweetest I can find and it does the trick. If I am craving chocolate, I eat a piece of dark chocolate and I am satisified.
I am finding more and more that I don't need as much of something as I think I do and if I give it enough time while I am eating it, that feeling will go away.
And the best part? I am finally down 8 pounds and I am proud of it. I am getting ready to start adding in daily workouts that I can do here at home to really tone my body.

Current weight May 25, 2018: 196
So — I am headed in the right direction and I am pretty sure that by adding in more exercise, I will get where I am going by the end of the year. I am joining Heather at My Life Well Loved and doing her challenges she sets. Right now, there is a booty challenge going on and I am loving it!! Can you say bye bye cellulite 🙂
