I love entertaining. It is one of my favorite things to do and honestly, I am pretty good at it. I am an all around people person, I cook great food, and I love to invite friends and family over for dinner.
Of course, I never just invite people. I always like to create a theme and then dress up my table to go along with it. Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so I thought I would show you how I plan on fixing up my romantic tablescape for Valentine's Day. It's my way of giving an #HSYMessageofLove.
Most everything in my tablescape, I picked up in the dollar aisle at the store or at thrift stores and yard sales.
For me, I am not one for matching plates and stuff. I like being eclectic and that shows when I have dinner parties. Over the last few weeks, I have picked up pieces and sets for $5 or less from the thrift store. If I found a cute 5 place setting, I would buy it and store it for special occasions like my Valentine Dinner party I am throwing.
Each place setting matches, but each person has a different place setting. It makes the table look rustic and eclectic – just my style!
I picked up a bunch of decorations last year when they marked them down to .10 each at the local dollar store. I bought vases, hearts, trays, fabric, and then I stored it until ready to use for this year.
I took some fabric that I picked up in the clearance bin at my craft store and used it to give a little extra fancy to the table.
I put doilies under the saucer cups. They look like little hearts. Then we scattered all kinds of flat glitter hearts on the table.
You Gotta Have Candy
No dinner party would be complete without candy scattered on the table right? I picked up some of the new Hershey’s Kisses
They are perfect for telling your friends and loved ones how much you care and they are sweeter than ever.
In fact, when I opened the Reeses version, I laughed because I am all the time telling my hubby that he is my BFF and that is exactly the first piece I got — of course I had to give it to him.
Having a dinner party doesn't have to be hard and it doesn't have to be rocket science. You can add a couple of these cute touches and your friends and family will surely have a great time!
