Synopsis

Four-time Emmy nominee Max Ehrich stars in Southern Gospel as Samuel Allen, a 1960s rockstar who finds himself in jail after years of running from his faith catches up to him.

In a moment of divine intervention, the judge dismisses drug charges against him under the pretense that Samuel speaks to local schools and churches about the dangers of drugs. Given a second chance, he follows in his father's footsteps to become a preacher, overcoming the influence of a powerful church leader with a personal vendetta against his family.

Jenn's Thoughts on the Movie

I really liked Southern Gospel. While watching it, I did not know that it was based on a true story until after the movie was over, which made me love it all the more.

It was a moving story, with scenes that broke my heart, and then scenes that made me laugh out loud. There are a couple of places in the movie where there is some language (Son of a B, the D word, and then hell as a curse word). Given the scene it was in, it was understandable.

This movie will pull at your heartstrings, but it will also encourage you to never give up. If God has placed a dream in your heart and a vision with passion, He will see it through!
