My body style is SO weird to me. I am that pear shaped body style so it is really hard to find clothing to flatter my body style. Today, I want to share some summer outfits that I have put together that will help you also to choose clothes that flatter your body style.
Let’s start off with a few of my favorites!
The Maxi Dress
Anytime you want an outfit to flatter your body style, grab a maxi dress. They hold you great up top and then flow from the chest down. It hides all the little bumps and curves that we all hate (at least I do) — and if you get a sleeveless dress, it will help accent your arms instead of making them seem larger than what they are.
The maxi dress is the perfect summer outfit because it is flowy and the material is thin.
The clothes shopping experience can seem overwhelming, especially when you are skirt shopping. There are so many styles that it can be hard to figure out which one is right. One of the keys to successful skirt shopping is shopping for yourself, not for an event.
For example, if you buy a skirt specifically to wear to a party it might look fine for that event, but you may never wear it again. The better option is to choose a skirt length, such as mini or midi, that you like. Then select a color, pattern or style you find attractive.
For example, if you value warmth and comfort, a long denim skirt might be best. If you prefer showing off your legs, a mini skirt is more likely to benefit you. You will get a lot of use out of any skirt you choose by accessorizing it differently, as long as it is a style and fit you like.
The Mini Skirt
Okay — I am not one to wear skirts that often or calf length dresses. I have short legs so I have to find outfits that accent my legs. For me, that is a mini skirt.
If you have chunky legs like I do, your best bet is a shorter skirt that comes above the knee. Wearing a calf length dress makes your legs look chunkier and shorter — which you don’t want.
Choose a skirt that fits loosely, and then a shirt that hangs a little loose with a cute pattern, like this Chevron top I got from Stitch Fix.
Pair it with a cute pair of heels for the perfect summer look.
Printed Top With Jeans
If you are going somewhere in the evening that might be a little cooler, you can pair printed tops with a cute pair of jeans.
If you are top heavy like I am, a printed top takes away from your heavily endowed bosom 🙂 I have learned that stripes are NOT my best friend. Printed tops are great for that.
Summer is a great time to try new fashion trends to help flatter your body style.
I would love to hear what you are finding on the racks when you go shopping!
