5 Travel Hacks for Your Pet When You Go on Vacation

Sharing is caring!

Thank you Brawny® Tear-A-Square® for sponsoring this post. Think of all the ways you can Put a Square There!

Y'all know how much I love my little Tucker — the best chihuahua on the planet, right? That sweet dog of mine goes everywhere I go — even on vacation.

I have had him now for a little over 10 years. After a few whirlwind vacations, I have finally figured out the necessities I need to bring with me when he travels with us. These 5 travel hacks help him to have an amazing time while on vacation, and I am able to keep my sanity!

5 Doggie Travel Hacks To Save You Time and Money!

#1 Bring Along the Brawny® Tear-A-Square®

Anytime we travel anywhere, whether Tucker is with us or not, I am always packing my Brawny® Tear-A-Square®. Why do you ask? Well — we are a messy family — the dog included!

When we travel and Tucker comes with us, we have to stop more often. We always try to find parks or places that have lots of space for him to roam and run.

Of course, it never fails — he always finds the puddles. He loves water, so whenever he finds a water hole, he MUST walkthrough. And when he does that, I don't want his wet muddy feet in my car.

Thanks to the different sizes now offered in Brawny® Tear-A-Square®, I have the option of using a quarter sheet, a half sheet, or full sheet.

Whenever Tucker gets in the water, I pull a quarter sheet off and use it to wipe his small paws. He doesn't mind it so much.

Then, I use a couple of full sheets to dry his underbelly off. He's so short, it doesn't take much for him to get soaking wet on his bottom half.

I love that by giving me three options to choose from, I don't have to waste paper towels.

I can just select the size I need based on the job at hand (whether it's his paws, his body, or my own hands). Each size is perfect for our family!

#2 Collapsible Water Bowl

I cannot stress enough how important it is to bring along your dog's own water and food bowl. When we travel, we always stop to eat somewhere that has outside dining so that I can bring Tucker. I bring his own food and water bowls because it makes it easy to give him what he needs whenever he needs it.

I use a collapsible bowl because it makes it easier to store and pack in Tucker's travel bag (and yes — my dog has his own travel bag!)

#2 His Own Wardrobe

Okay — this is not really a hack, but it makes for a fun outing when you can dress your dog up in his own clothes to go out on the town.

Tucker has his very own beach shirt that he wears anytime we are taking a beach vacation.

It makes for a fun outing and people will get a kick out of your sweet fur baby looking his or her best! Tucker also has outfits for Game Day, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day — what can I say? He LOVES to wear clothes.

#3 His Favorite Treats

Another thing that will really make your pet have a great vacation is by bringing along their favorite treats to enjoy during the day. I use these treats to promote great behavior since he has a really hard time with anxiety.

The vet recommended that we do this to help him recognize the kind of behavior we wanted from him on a trip instead of the negative and anxious behavior

#4 Anxiety Blanket or Jacket

If you are traveling with your dog and they love to ride, then that is a good thing. If your pooch does not, then you might want to invest in a product that will offer them some sort of calm.

Tucker can get a little antsy, so we invested in an anxiety jacket for him for when we travel. It helps him to settle down and not whine so much. After about an hour in the car, we take it off because by then he has pretty much calmed down.

#5 A Crate

Whenever we travel somewhere, I never leave Tucker out in the room loose. I always bring his crate and he stays locked up in there while we are gone places. The crate is his safe place and I know that by him being there, then he will stay safe if someone happens to come in while we are gone to clean or something of that nature.

These 5 travel hacks are great things to remember when you are traveling with your dog. By keeping your dog safe when you travel, it will make his vacation amazing, but it will also make yours amazing as well.

Don't forget to bring along the Brawny® Tear-A-Square®!
