  Yum

These Mini Strawberry Scones with Vanilla Bean Glaze are the perfect bite-sized treat for brunch, tea time, or when you just want a little something sweet without going overboard.

There’s just something magical about a fresh batch of warm, buttery scones—especially when they’re bursting with juicy strawberries and topped with a sweet vanilla bean glaze.

Mini Strawberry Scones with Vanilla Bean Glaze

I love making these when strawberries are in season because the flavor is unbeatable—but honestly, they’re just as delicious any time of year. Plus, their mini size makes them perfect for sharing (or not… I won’t judge!).

How to Make Mini Strawberry Scones with Vanilla Bean Glaze

We based this recipe off of Kayla's original scone recipe that we posted last year. They were a huge hit in our house, so I knew that these little bad boys would go over really well.

They are very bite-sized, which is what I was going for, but if you want to make them bigger, then all you have to do is create a normal scone recipe (just click that link to see how Kayla did it the first time).

Why You’ll Love These Mini Strawberry Scones

  • 🍓 Packed with fresh strawberry flavor
  • 🧈 Buttery, tender, and flaky texture
  • 🍦 Sweet vanilla bean glaze takes them over the top
  • 👩‍🍳 Easy to make with simple ingredients
  • 🧺 Perfect for brunch, showers, or afternoon tea

These scones are now my new favorite, although I cannot make them that often. If I do, I will sit and eat WAY too many of them, which is totally not good for my diet.

These are great for any gathering that you are attending, such as potlucks, weddings, book launch parties, and more.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Mini Strawberry Scones with Vanilla Bean Glaze

For the Scones:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups heavy cream plus more for brushing the top
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh strawberries

For the Vanilla Bean Glaze:

  • 1 whole vanilla bean
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, plus more if needed
  • 5 cups powdered sugar, sifted, plus more if needed
  • Dash of salt

How to Make Mini Strawberry Scones

Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3: Cut in the Butter

Add the cold butter and use a pastry cutter (or your hands) to mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4: Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream, egg, and vanilla. Pour into the flour mixture and gently mix until just combined.

Step 5: Fold in Strawberries

Carefully fold in the diced strawberries. Be gentle so they don’t get too mashed.

Step 6: Shape the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into small wedges or use a biscuit cutter for mini rounds.

Step 7: Bake

Place on the baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Make the Vanilla Bean Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla bean paste until smooth. Drizzle over cooled scones.

Tips for Perfect Scones

  • Use cold butter for that flaky texture
  • Don’t overmix the dough—keep it light and tender
  • Pat strawberries dry to avoid excess moisture
  • Chill the dough for 10–15 minutes before baking if it gets too soft

How to Serve

These mini scones are best served warm with:

  • A cup of hot coffee or tea
  • A dollop of whipped cream
  • Extra fresh strawberries on the side

They also make a beautiful addition to brunch boards or baby shower spreads!

Storage Tips

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days
  • Refrigerate for up to 5 days
  • Freeze (without glaze) for up to 2 months

Final Thoughts

These Mini Strawberry Scones with Vanilla Bean Glaze are one of those recipes that feel fancy but are secretly super simple. Whether you’re hosting brunch, baking for a special occasion, or just treating yourself, these little scones deliver big flavor in every bite.

Trust me—once you make them, they won’t last long!
