Free September Toddler Printable Activities
September is one of my favorite months for introducing seasonal activities to my grandkids. The weather starts cooling down, the leaves begin changing colors, and there are so many fun fall themes to explore.
I love having simple activities ready for the twins that don't require a ton of preparation or expensive supplies.
That's why I created this September Toddler Printable Pack.
It includes four different worksheets designed to help little learners practice counting, color recognition, shapes, and fine motor skills.
Each activity features bright colors, adorable fall illustrations, and easy-to-follow instructions that make learning feel more like playtime.
What's Included in the September Toddler Printable Pack?
This free printable pack includes a colorful cover page and four fall-themed learning activities.
1. Apple Picking Color Match

Nothing says September quite like apple picking!
In this activity, toddlers will practice recognizing and matching colors using adorable red, yellow, and green apples.
The worksheet features three apple baskets labeled with different colors and a collection of colorful apples that can be cut out and sorted into the correct baskets.
Skills practiced:
- Color recognition
- Sorting and matching
- Fine motor skills
- Hand-eye coordination
How to use it: Cut out the apples ahead of time, especially for younger toddlers. Have your child pick up each apple, identify its color, and place it with the matching basket.
For an extra learning opportunity, count how many apples are in each color group.
You can even laminate the worksheet and apples to reuse this activity throughout the fall season.
2. Help the Leaf Find the Pumpkin

This adorable tracing activity is perfect for helping little hands develop early writing skills.
Each colorful fall leaf needs help finding its pumpkin!
Toddlers will follow different dotted paths, including wavy lines, zigzags, loops, and straight-edged patterns.
Skills practiced:
- Pre-writing skills
- Pencil control
- Hand-eye coordination
- Fine motor development
How to use it: Give your toddler a chunky crayon or washable marker and encourage them to follow each dotted line from the leaf to the pumpkin.
Don't worry about perfectly tracing the lines. The goal is to practice holding a writing tool and moving it across the paper.
For younger toddlers, you can also let them trace the paths with their fingers before trying a crayon.
3. Count the Acorns

Our next activity features an adorable squirrel and lots of little acorns!
This fall counting worksheet encourages toddlers to count the acorns in each box and circle the correct number.
The colorful number choices make this activity especially inviting for little learners.
Skills practiced:
- Early counting
- Number recognition
- One-to-one correspondence
- Visual discrimination
How to use it: Point to each acorn and count aloud together.
Once your toddler knows how many acorns are in the box, help them find and circle the matching number.
If your child is just beginning to count, start with the boxes containing fewer acorns.
You can also bring out real acorns or toy counting manipulatives to make this activity even more hands-on. Just be sure to supervise closely, since real acorns can be a choking hazard for young children.
4. Fall Shape Hunt

This might be one of my favorite activities in the entire pack!
The Fall Shape Hunt worksheet features a colorful autumn scene filled with pumpkins, apples, sunflowers, leaves, and a friendly scarecrow.
Hidden throughout the picture are several different shapes for toddlers to find.
Children will look for circles, squares, triangles, stars, hearts, and ovals.
Skills practiced:
- Shape recognition
- Visual scanning
- Observation
- Matching skills
How to use it: Start by reviewing the shapes along the side of the worksheet.
Then encourage your toddler to search the picture for matching shapes and circle each one they discover.
For younger toddlers, focus on one shape at a time.
You can extend this activity by going on a shape hunt around your house. Look for circular plates, square blocks, rectangular books, and other familiar objects.

Supplies You'll Need
One of the things I love most about printable activities is that you don't need a lot of supplies.
Here's what I recommend having on hand:
- Printed September toddler activity pages
- Crayons or washable markers
- Child-safe scissors (with adult assistance)
- Glue sticks, if you'd like to glue the apples onto their matching baskets
- Laminating sheets (optional)
- Dry-erase markers for reusable activities (optional)
If you plan to use these printables with multiple children, laminating them is a great way to make them last longer.
Tips for Using These Printables With Younger Toddlers
Every toddler learns at their own pace, so don't feel like your little one needs to complete every worksheet perfectly.
For children around two years old, I recommend keeping activities short and playful.
Start with just one printable at a time and let your toddler explore it without pressure.
Younger children might enjoy naming the colors of the apples or pointing to the pumpkins more than completing the entire worksheet.
And that's perfectly fine!
Here are a few ways to make the activities easier:
Make it hands-on. Instead of asking your toddler to circle answers, let them point to the correct picture.
Work together. Count the acorns aloud or trace the dotted lines with your finger first.
Use larger crayons. Chunky crayons are often easier for little hands to grip.
Keep sessions short. Five to ten minutes may be plenty for younger toddlers.
Celebrate their effort. Focus on having fun together rather than getting every answer correct.
The goal is to encourage curiosity and build confidence through play.

Encourage your child to sort the apples by color, just like in the printable activity.

Why I Love Seasonal Printables for Toddlers
As a grandma, I'm always looking for simple activities that keep the grandkids engaged without requiring hours of preparation.
Seasonal printables are one of my favorite ways to do that.
They give us an opportunity to practice important skills while talking about things the kids are already noticing in the world around them.
During September, that means apples, pumpkins, squirrels, falling leaves, and all the fun things that come with autumn.
These activities are also great for rainy afternoons, quiet mornings, homeschool preschool lessons, or those moments when you need a quick activity to keep little hands busy.
And because everything is included in one printable PDF, you can download it once and print the pages whenever you need them.
