Thank you to the Gulf Shores Orange Beach Tourism for sending my husband and I on an epic Romantic Getaway. All opinions listed are 100% my own.
After our romantic dinner at the Villaggio Grille the night before, we headed back to our beach side condo to relax and rest and get some sleep. The next day was a day full of fun that we had planned. We started out the day with a pottery class we were taking at the Coastal Arts Center in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. If you want a really awesome day of fun that is completely different than anything you have experienced, you will want to do something like this!
When my husband and I first saw our itinerary for Gulf Shores, we both laughed out loud when we saw we were taking a pottery class together. Neither of us had ever done anything like this before, so we were both pretty nervous. Would we be able to make something? Were we going to have to have a Ghost moment and be on the pottery wheel at the same time? Honestly, we had NO idea what to expect.
Making Pottery at the Coastal Art Center
The Coastal Art Center is located on scenic Wolf Bay in Orange Beach and heads up the annual Orange Beach Arts Festival.
When we got there, our instructor put our minds at ease. She sat down at the pottery wheel and showed us what to do and laughed and chatted with us as if we were old friends.
I never expected that out of all the fun things we did while in Gulf Shores — Alligator Alley, eating at Lulu's and enjoying the live entertainment — NOTHING compared to the fun we had making pottery together.
Stephen wound up being a PRO when it was our turn to try the pottery wheel. Him being in construction and all, he made the most beautiful pottery, but me? I just could NOT get the hang of it. I laughed myself silly at my pots.
After finishing up our pottery class, we purchased a couple of items that had been made there and headed over to another building where the glass blowing and bead making were going on.
He showed us from start to finish how he makes his beads. It was THE coolest thing ever. If you ever want to have a great date with your spouse, try something different like a pottery class!
We had such a great time and cannot wait to go back and make something else.
