Next week, all of our area will be on Spring Break -- so where are you headed? If you are late to the game and haven't made plans yet, let me share with you why I think a beach vacation is what you need this spring.

My family and I love the beach. When we want to get away and unwind, we never ever think of anywhere else -- the beach is always in the front of our minds.

Here are my 5 reasons that I think you need a beach vacation this Spring Break.

5 Reasons You Need a Beach Vacation

#1 Relaxation is a Must

We are headed back to the beach again this fall for our annual family trip, but before we decided that this year, we had talked about going to Disney.

However, the more I thought about it, and all the hustle and bustle that is involved in a Disney vacation, I knew that was not what my body and soul craved.

I craved being able to sit early in the morning, reading and drinking coffee and listening to the waves crash against the shore.

The relaxation that the beach offers is simply one of the best times in my life. I use this time to rejuvenate myself, unplug from online distractions and just immerse myself in letting the sun, sand, and waves wash away all the stresses of everyday life.

#2 Family Togetherness

When my family and I go to the beach every year, there is a closeness that comes about that seems to have been missing all year.

We spend more time together, playing board games, cooking together, taking long walks on the beach, going on diving holidays, and just catching up with each other.

It's during these times, that my beautiful grown kids share their dreams and passions with me. I don't have to compete with video games, social media, or their friends. I have their clear undivided attention, and for me, that is worth everything in the world.

#3 New Adventures

Every time we take a beach vacation, we always make sure to do something that we have never done before. This last time, we took a 2 hour cruise on a 53 ft catamaran and had the most amazing romantic time ever.

We watched dolphins playing in the water, following the boat. We listened to romantic music during our cruise, we had a few snacks, but the best part was getting to watch the sun set on the water.

It was something that was purely magical and honestly, I had never done this before and can now mark that off my bucket list.

#4 Rediscovering My Love for Life

When I am away on the beach, I discover how much fun life is. I watch others on the beach laughing and running, splashing and playing, and I am reminded that life is fun.

Watching my daughter run and play in the waves reminds me that sometimes, you just need to enjoy life -- even when you think there is nothing to like about it.

#5 The Beach is My Happy Place

For me, the beach is where it's at. It is my happy place. It is where I reconnect and get my charge from. Nothing says fun to me like sticking my toes in the sand and burying my feet.

Nothing is greater than building castles with my children.

Nothing is greater than nights of laughter at our beach house.

It is what makes me tick.

So you ask me -- what's the best kind of vacation? Going to the beach during Spring Break  -- that's my kind of vacation.

What about you? What is your favorite vacation?

  1. I only wish the beaches near us were nice and big and sandy....instead we have frigid, tiny beaches full of rocks. Well, at least we can toss rocks into the water!

I grew up going to the beach (mostly Puerto Vallarta, San Blas, or Manzanillo) at least once a year. And I do miss it. Life at the beach is so calm and easy. I miss it.

  2. You're right. I need a beach vacation. I grew up with summers at the beach and I really miss it.

  3. We took a beach vacation last year and loved the family time and memories we made together. There's just nothing like spending time together without a schedule that really does build togetherness.

  4. We're lucky to live within a hour or so from Southern California beaches. It's where I spent my teenage years! I'm trying to pull a beach trip together with our kids and grand kids. Getting the timing right for all the working adults is the hard part but I'll figure it out. It looks like your family had a great time. What beach were you at?

  5. I live in Florida with the ocean at arms reach. Unfortunately I do not take advantage as I should!

  6. I certainly could use a nice beach vacation. I know my daughters would love to go to the beach as well. We don't have the greatest ones around here though. I'd love to take a nice vacation and find a great beach to visit.

  7. Seriously...I only need one reason. To get away and get out of this weather. Okay that's two but I REALLY do need go go.

  8. The mountains are my happy place, but I do love walking on a beach. The problem is I can't stay there more than an hour. I do think you can do all those things you mention anywhere. It's about being together and not on your cell phone

  9. I totally agree with you. For me the beach is the most important and inspirational place in the world. It relaxes me the minute I arrive. I can sit there for hours and watch the ocean. It's like a therapy. I could never ever live without the beach.

  11. I think the beach is a lot of peoples happy place! I certainly will never say no to a beach vacation!

  12. I completely agree!! I am heading to a beach destination and can't wait to dip my feet in the ocean!!!

  13. So totally agree! I'm a city person, but watching the ocean and walking on the beach charges me and helps me reconnect with my inner self 🙂

  14. Nothing more relaxing that the sounds of the waves... totally a happy place!

  15. I love to vacation at the beach. I am hoping to be able to retire somewhere it is warm all year and i have a beach out my front door.

  16. I take a lot of Mini Vacations and StayCations. The last good / real vacation I took was to Niagara Falls, CAN. It was a great time. I would love to be able to stay someplace longer that 3-4 days. I think my next vacation needs to be across the ocean.

  17. The beach is totally my happy place too, but it's funny: go to the beach and we all separate. We all have such different ideas about the beach. 🙂

  18. This post comes at a time when I am craving for the beaches. Managed a water park yesterday - just to make up for the lack of the beaches in the city I stay. Hoping to make it to the beaches sometime this most.

  19. Nice that you can make those special memories at your happy place with your loved ones. 😉 I live at a beach and have to make myself even go to it once a month just because I live here. It is so beautiful and peaceful but Vero Beach doesn't feel like the typical vacation spot. Actually I was in Melbourne today (40minutes from my house) and driving down A1A, I realized that i would love to do just what you said, bring my family, relax, unwind, and enjoy the simple pleasures of beach life, and Melbourne's Beach is exactly the spot I would like to do just that. 😉

  20. The beach is my happy place too! There is nothing as relaxing for me as listening to the waves!

  21. I am always torn between the beach and the mountains. I love them both...just depends on time of year and location.

  22. I live along the ocean 😉
When I was working in St Jean de Luz then Hendaye, I took the train and the tracks follow the ocean in Bidart and Guethary. That was a great way to begin and finish the working day !

  23. The beach is definitely my happy place too - the sound of the waves is just mesmerizing. And my kids LOVE it - they could just play on the sand and run in and out of the waves all day.
