Whether you're hosting a Halloween party, planning a spooky movie night, or just looking for a fun Halloween dessert to make with the kids, this easy monster milkshake is sure to be a hit!

The best part? You don't need any fancy ingredients or special skills to create this creepy-cute dessert.

How to Make a Monster Milkshake

I love making fun Halloween treats, especially ones that look impressive but are surprisingly simple to put together. This green monster milkshake is one of those recipes!

The secret to making this milkshake extra fun is decorating the glass before adding the ice cream. I used marshmallow fluff tinted green to create a sticky, gooey rim that holds all those colorful Halloween sprinkles in place.

Then, I topped the milkshake with even more Halloween goodies, including candy eyeballs and a Frankenstein marshmallow Peep.

It's like a Halloween party in a glass!

Ingredients for a Halloween Monster Milkshake

Makes 2 milkshakes | Prep time: 10 minutes

  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream
  • ½ to ¾ cup milk, depending on your preferred consistency
  • Green gel food coloring
  • ½ cup marshmallow fluff
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Candy eyeballs
  • 2 Frankenstein marshmallow Peeps

You can also add crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, whipped cream, or additional Halloween candy if you want to make your milkshake even more extravagant.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Decorate the Glasses

Start by placing the marshmallow fluff in a small bowl. Add a tiny amount of green food coloring and stir until you get the shade of green you want.

Using a spoon or small spatula, spread the tinted marshmallow fluff around the rim of each milkshake glass.

Don't worry about making it perfect! The messier and gooier it looks, the better. Let some of the marshmallow fluff drip down the sides to give your milkshake that fun monster-slime appearance.

While the marshmallow fluff is still sticky, add Halloween sprinkles around the rim.

Press a few candy eyeballs into the fluff along the outside of the glass.

Step 2: Make the Green Milkshake

Add the vanilla ice cream and ½ cup of milk to a blender.

Blend until smooth and creamy, adding a little more milk if necessary.

Add a few drops of green food coloring and blend again until the milkshake turns a bright monster-green color.

I like using gel food coloring because it gives the milkshake a vibrant color without adding much extra liquid.

Step 3: Fill the Glasses

Carefully pour the green milkshake into your decorated glasses.

Fill each glass almost to the top, leaving enough room for your Halloween toppings.

For an extra-thick milkshake, use less milk. This will help support all those fun decorations.

Step 4: Add the Halloween Toppings

Now comes the fun part!

Add more Halloween sprinkles, candy eyeballs, and a Frankenstein marshmallow Peep to the top of each milkshake.

You can also tuck in a few chocolate sandwich cookie pieces for additional texture.

Add a straw and serve immediately!

Tips for Making the Best Monster Milkshake

Use softened ice cream. Let your vanilla ice cream sit at room temperature for a few minutes before blending. This makes it easier to create a thick, creamy milkshake without adding too much milk.

Decorate the glasses first. The marshmallow fluff works like edible glue, holding the sprinkles and candy eyeballs in place.

Use gel food coloring. A little goes a long way, and it creates a beautiful green color.

Keep the milkshake thick. Since this Halloween milkshake has plenty of toppings, you want it thick enough to support the decorations.

Serve immediately. Milkshakes taste best freshly made, especially when decorated with marshmallow fluff and candy.

Fun Ways to Customize Your Halloween Milkshake

You can easily turn this recipe into different Halloween-themed milkshakes.

  • Frankenstein Milkshake: Use bright green ice cream, chocolate cookie crumbles for hair, and candy eyeballs.
  • Witch's Brew Milkshake: Tint the ice cream purple and decorate with green sprinkles and gummy worms.
  • Ghost Milkshake: Skip the green food coloring and use a white milkshake with whipped cream and candy eyes.
  • Pumpkin Monster Milkshake: Tint vanilla ice cream orange and top with Halloween sprinkles and pumpkin-shaped candies.

Can You Make Monster Milkshakes Ahead of Time?

You can decorate the milkshake glasses a few hours ahead of time and keep them in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve.

However, I recommend blending the ice cream right before serving so your milkshakes stay thick, cold, and creamy.

If you're making these for a Halloween party, set up a monster milkshake decorating station with sprinkles, candy eyeballs, marshmallow Peeps, and other fun toppings.

Kids will love creating their own spooky milkshake masterpieces!

The Perfect Halloween Party Dessert

These easy Monster Milkshakes are such a fun way to celebrate Halloween without spending hours in the kitchen.

I especially love how the green marshmallow fluff creates that gooey monster-slime look around the glass. Add the colorful sprinkles, candy eyeballs, and Frankenstein Peep, and you've got a Halloween dessert that's just as fun to look at as it is to eat.

Whether you're making them for a party or enjoying a spooky night at home, these creamy green milkshakes are guaranteed to bring a little Halloween magic to your celebration.
