Earlier this week while at Walmart shopping for groceries, I attended a demo for Kool-Aid's new Easy Mix flavors in Grape, Cherry, and Tropical Punch. The flavors tasted so good to me, that I purchased 3 right there on the spot! I knew what I was going to do with them. With spring in full swing and summer right on it's heels, I love to make my own snow cones at home and experiment with my own snow cone syrup.

After attending the demo at Walmart, I went over to the beverage aisle (which is where she told me that they Kool-Aid Easy Mixes were kept. Right next to all the other Kool-Aid merchandise is where you will find these.

Now, to make this is SUPER duper easy and SO much cheaper that the snow cone syrups you buy at the store. It uses a simple syrup mixture, and because I use zero calorie sweetener in my simple syrup and the Kool-Aid Easy Mix has less sugar, then instead of having an overly sweet treat, I have a balanced snow cone that I can be proud of!

What I love most though is how convenient and budget friendly these Kool-Aid Easy Mixes are. I can purchase one of these bottles and make Snow Cones all season long. With the already pre-made snow cone syrup at the store, it is expensive and doesn't last very long — at least not in our house anyway.

For starters, you need the following ingredients —

Kool-Aid 1

  • Squeeze bottles from the dollar aisle
  • 1 cup of zero calorie sugar substitute
  • 1 cup of water
  • Crushed Ice
  • Your favorite flavors of Kool-Aid Easy Mix

Now — for starters, you are going to boil on the stove your 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar until the sugar has dissolved and the water has gone down about 3/4 of the way.

Kool Aid 2

Set it aside to cool for about 30 minutes.

Once it has cooled, split the simple syrup between two squeeze bottles. You can pick these up from any dollar aisle or half price store.

Fill the rest of the bottle with cold tap water. Leave about 1″ of space in the top of the bottle to pour in your Kool-Aid Easy Mix.

We decided to make both Tropical Punch flavors and Grape flavors.

Once you get this done, close the lids and set it aside for a moment. Be sure to shake them up before using them.

Now — take some ice in your blender and grind it until you get that fine shaved ice powder. Puree works great for this.

Then once you have done this, scoop it out into shallow bowls and be sure to mound the ice up! The liquid does make the ice go down some, so don't be shy. I mean, that is what a snow cone is all about right?

Then once you have your ice on, you take your snow cone syrup that you made and pour it all over the ice making your very own snow cone syrup!

Then once you get it done, you head to your back porch for some sun, relaxation time and a delicious and cool snack to enjoy!

So — what about you? What is your favorite cool treat? Kool-Aid Easy mix is a delicious beverage option that the whole family can enjoy and can be used in a ton of different ways.

Can I use the presweetened Kool aid. And if I can how?

I am sure you could. If you are talking about Kool-Aid already made in your fridge, just use 1 cup of Kool-Aid and your crushed ice. Put the Kool-Aid in your squeeze bottle and pour it over top the ice just like I did with the mix I made. Let me know if you have any more questions.

My kids just came home from their little league game last week with their very first snow cones - they loved them! I often have Kool-Aid on hand at the house, but need to give the Kool-Aid Easy Mix a try so I can make this recipe. #client
