How to Make the Best Avocado Deviled Eggs

Sharing is caring!

If you're looking for a fresh twist on a classic party favorite, these Avocado Deviled Eggs are going to blow your tastebuds away! They're creamy, flavorful, and a little healthier than the traditional version — perfect for spring gatherings, potlucks, or as a light and satisfying snack.

I first tried these while experimenting with ways to use up ripe avocados (because we all know they go from perfect to mush in about 30 minutes). Once I took a bite, I knew I had to share this recipe with y’all! For more delicious avocado recipes, check out my Air Fryer Baked Avocado Eggs.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Healthier swap: Avocado replaces some of the mayo, giving you healthy fats and a beautiful green hue.
  • Packed with flavor: A little lime juice, garlic, and seasoning bring this recipe to life.
  • Easy and quick: Just 15 minutes from fridge to table!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 3 teaspoons lime juice plus lime zest
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh chopped cilantro
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • Cajun seasoning and chopped fresh chives, for garnish

How to Make Avocado Deviled Eggs

Step 1: Boil Your Eggs

Place eggs in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover, and let sit for 10-12 minutes. Transfer to an ice bath to cool completely.

Step 2: Peel and Slice

Once eggs are cool, peel and slice them in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a bowl.

Step 3: Mash the Filling

To the bowl of yolks, add the avocado, lime juice, cilantro, garlic powder, onion powder, and hot sauce. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Fill the Eggs

Spoon or pipe the avocado filling back into the egg whites. I love using a piping bag with a star tip for that pretty presentation!

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle with paprika and chopped chives. Serve immediately, or chill for up to 2 hours before serving.

My Tips for Success

  • Use ripe avocados: They should give slightly when pressed. If they’re too firm, your filling won’t be creamy.
  • Make-ahead tip: Prep the eggs in advance, but mix the filling right before serving to avoid browning.
  • Spice it up: Add diced jalapeño or a bit of sriracha for a spicy version.
