Sharing is caring!

If you are looking for a an easy to make summer refreshing drink, try your hand at making a Frozen Pineapple Agua Fresca.

This tropical drink is perfect for a hot day on the back porch while relaxing.

Aguas frescas or fresh water is a popular drink made with delicious ripe fruit, pineapple juice, or water.

This non-alcoholic drink is made with a few simple ingredients that you might already have on hand.

Not only is this drink refreshing, but it is packed with Vitamin C thanks to the pineapple and is a great alternative to sugary soft drinks. This drink is perfect for hot summer days!

Making This Frozen Pineapple Drink

For this recipe, you will need a good blender.

To make this drink you need —

  • 4 Cups Ice cubes
  • 2 Cups fresh Pineapple chunks
  • 1 Cup cold Water
  • ¼  Cup White Granulated Sugar
  • Pineapple Leaves (optional garnish)
  • Pineapple Wedges (optional garnish)

Combine the ice cubes, ripe pineapple, water, and sugar in a powerful blender or food processor and blend for about 2 minutes or until there are no more chunks of ice and pineapple.

Unless your blender is pretty powerful, you’ll need a tamper to help the blender grab all the chunks, or something similar.

Pour into glasses, top with two pineapple leaves, or a chunk of pineapple, and enjoy! To serve to a group, pour it into a large pitcher and top it off with ice.

To change the flavor up a bit for this recipe, you could add fresh fruit like strawberries, cherries, oranges, etc.

Other Options for Add Ins

When making this pineapple agua fresca recipe or they call it agua de piña, you can change up so much just by adding a few extra additions here and there.

Change out the water for coconut water or pineapple water. For added citrus flavor, squeeze in some fresh lime juice or add fresh fruit juice.

Make a simple syrup to squeeze into the drink to adjust the sweetness level. For me, this is the best way to serve the drink. Some people like it really sweet and others like it less sweet.

Switch out any sugar for agave nectar or agave syrup. The amount of sugar you use will determine how sweet it is.

This refreshing summer drink will have all your party guests at the family gatherings excited this summer!

Storing this Sweet Drink

Store the extra leftover Pineapple drink in the fridge in the pitcher. Use within 2-3 days. The natural sugars in the pineapple or the other variety of fruits you used will begin to break down after that and make the drink a little unpleasant.

Of course, you can strain the old fruit out and add 2 cups of water to the drink to refresh it. Then adjust the sweetness to your liking.

Notes

I always stick with fresh pineapple because it yields the best results, but canned pineapple can be used, if necessary. If you want to use the pineapple juice, you’ll need to remove the water. If you decide to drain the pineapples before use, keep the water.
I do not recommend making this recipe in advance as it’s truly best right after being made. It does not keep in the fridge or freezer well.
A tamper is a tool that you put in the top of your blender and wiggle around so it’s able to grab onto the remaining chunks and make a nice and smooth outcome.
The sugar is important as it keeps the ice from seizing. However, a sugar substitute that’s similar, like monk fruit sweetener, should work.
If you want it sweater, double the sugar, but be warned, it buries the pineapple flavor if you make it too sweet.
