How to Make Homemade Poppyseed Dressing
Another great dressing that I make is my Copycat Olive Garden Salad Dressing that is my favorite go-to when I want something tangy.
Well — it was my favorite until I started making this one.
Now — it is my all time favorite.

So how easy is it to make this delicious dressing?
Ingredients for Homemade Poppyseed Dressing
All you need are a few simple pantry ingredients —
- ¾ C. White Vinegar
- 1½ C. Canola Oil
- ¾ C. Sugar
- 2 T. White or Yellow onion
- 1¼ T. Salt
- ¾ t. Dry Mustard
- 1½ T. Poppy Seeds
I like to buy my poppy seeds in bulk. Then, I just store them in the refrigerator. I like making a lot of dishes that use poppy seeds so by buying them in bulk, I save money in the long run.

All you have to do is add everything to a food processor or a blender (leave the poppy seeds out until the last minute) and then pulse until the onion is fully grated.
From there, add in your poppy seeds and you have the perfect dressing for any salad.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make poppyseed dressing ahead of time?
Yes! In fact, it tastes even better after chilling for a few hours because the flavors have time to blend together.
How long does homemade poppyseed dressing last?
Store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Can I freeze poppyseed dressing?
Because it contains mayonnaise, freezing is not recommended. The texture may separate after thawing.
