Cottage Cheese Buffalo Chicken Dip

Sharing is caring!

This Cottage Cheese Buffalo Chicken Dip is delicious and healthier than the original Buffalo Chicken Dip. Switch out cream cheese and use cottage cheese instead. It makes the perfect dip that you can enjoy on your health kick journey.!

Cottage cheese is all the rage right now so I have been using it in a lot of recipes lately. My buffalo chicken dip is one of those recipes. Cottage cheese is the perfect way to add a little more protein to your foods to boost that intake. I shoot for about 30+ grams for each meal and one serving of cottage cheese adds an extra 12 grams.

Traditional Buffalo chicken dip often gets a bad rep, but this healthy buffalo chicken dip is about to change that.

It still tastes amazing and is just a little bit lighter than regular buffalo chicken dip.

How to Make Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

Now I will be the first to tell you that I am NOT a fan of cottage cheese by itself. There is just something about the chunks in it that grosses me out.

I was convinced I wasn't going to like it. But, you know what? This healthy buffalo dip is THE BOMB and a crowd favorite! And it is a great way to get extra protein in your diet.

For this recipe you will need these simple ingredients —

  • Rotisserie Chicken (or any leftover chicken you have in the fridge)
  • cottage cheese
  • ranch dressing
  • hot sauce
  • cheddar cheese (you can also add extra cheese like pepper jack or mozzarella cheese)

Place all of those ingredients(except the shredded chicken) in a food processor and blend until well combined. If you like the chunky texture of cottage cheese, simply mix everything in a large mixing bowl before putting it in the baking dish. Pour into a cast iron skillet or your favorite baking dish and bake for about 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

The toppings for this creamy dip are optional. For mine, I like to add a drizzle of sour cream, some chives or green onions, and a sprinkle of feta cheese. You can leave those off. For a lighter drizzle, use some Greek yogurt in place of the sour cream.

Bake it at 350 degrees preheated oven for about 25 minutes. You can use whatever baking pan you have on hand. I like to use my cast iron skillet for things like this. If you want, you can also throw this dip in your slow cooker and take it to a function you might be attending, like game day or a party.

Once it comes out, add the toppings and dig in with some delicious tortilla chips. If you want, you can use fresh vegetables like celery sticks or sliced red bell peppers as dippers. It is that simple!

Store the leftovers in an airtight container and then reheat when ready to eat. I like using this dip for when I am doing meal prep. It holds up well and is great for lunchboxes and stuff.

Optional Ingredients

You can add in extra ingredients for more flavor like onion powder, garlic powder, or blue cheese crumbles.
