Buffalo Chicken Dip

Sharing is caring!

Need a quick and easy appetizer that is the perfect blend of simple and delicious? Check out this recipe for my Buffalo Chicken Dip.

Whenever the fall and winter roll around, I start pulling out all my favorite appetizers! For me, there is nothing better than hosting a get-together with my favorite people in the whole world.

For me, it starts on November 1st.

We put on Christmas with the Kranks, make the best Caramel Machiatto coffees, and just have a good time ushering in the next two holidays.

I pull out all the stops and make delicious and easy appetizers that I can whip together in no time flat. One of everyone's favorite is a block of cream cheese with my homemade green pepper jelly poured all over the top of it.

Of course, nothing beats my Praline Pecans and my 3 ingredient sausage balls.

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip

Now that I have your attention and you are now dreaming of all the yummy appetizers out there, let's talk about Buffalo Chicken Dip.

Now, I will tell you that I am not a fan of Buffalo Chicken in a restaurant. I have no idea why I don't like it because I simply cannot get enough of this delicious Buffalo Chicken Dip.

I like to bake mine in a cast iron skillet so that I can broil it for a few minutes to get a crusty cheese topping!

To make this dip, you really only need just a few simple ingredients —

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 package (8 ounces) of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Frank's RedHot Original Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese

Yes, you can use any hot sauce you want, but seriously — there is just something about Frank's that is above any other hot sauces on the market.

So — here is how we make this delicious appetizer —

Start by softening your cream cheese in the microwave. Take it out of the package and place it in a bowl and microwave for about 30-45 seconds. Once you have it the right softness, remove from the microwave and place in your cast iron skillet.

Turn the heat over medium and whisk the cream cheese until it is completely melted.

Add in your hot sauce and ranch dressing and 3/4 of the cheese and all the chicken.

Once you get it all combined, top with the remaining cheese and place in the oven.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Place under the broiler for 5 minutes.

Remove from the oven and allow the dip to cool for a couple of minutes before digging in.

Now, enjoy with your favorite crackers, chips, or veggies! One of my favorite ways to use this dip is to make these Buffalo Chicken Fries.

You can use any chicken you want in this recipe. Canned Chicken works great, rotisserie chicken, or your own roast chicken. As long as it is 2 cups worth, it will work perfectly.

Be on the lookout because we are also working on a Nashville Hot Chicken Dip that is similar to this one. I cannot wait until we get done recipe testing for this.

Making this today, your recipe doesn’t list the shredded cheddar. Other recipes use (1) cup shredded cheddar so that’s what I’m doing. I’ll post a pic if I remember, it is Super-bowl Sunday. Thanks for all you do, I enjoy your recipes and blog. Becky
