Copycat Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken

Sharing is caring!

If you have been to Texas Roadhouse anytime lately, you might have ordered their Herb Crusted Chicken with that delicious grilled and charred lemon. Is it just me or is that dish one of the best things they have had on the menu in a long time?

Since getting it a few weeks ago, I have been craving it. I wanted to try making an easy recipe at home and I am here to tell you I succeeded! Here's my take on the Copycat Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken.

This chicken has an herb mixture that includes olive oil, lemon juice, and all my favorite herbs and spices.

Then, if you want to kick it up a notch, sprinkle on a little Parmesan Cheese on the end. But for me, I like it just how it comes.

Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients. You can use fresh herbs if you want, but I used dried herbs this time and it worked out well.

  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts (you can also use boneless chicken thighs)
  • Dried Dill
  • Dried Basil
  • Dried Oregano
  • Garlic Powder
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • 2-3 lemons sliced in half

If you do not have basil and oregano, swap those out for Italian Seasoning.

In a small bowl, mix together the seasonings.

Using plastic wrap and a meat mallet, pound chicken breasts by placing them between the plastic wrap and using the mallet to flatten the chicken.

Now, season both sides of the chicken with the seasoning mixture.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once it is hot, add the chicken breasts to the pan and cook for 5 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown. Now lower the heat to medium heat and let the chicken cook until the internal temperature reads 165 degrees F.

Remove from the heat. Allow the chicken to rest while you blacken the lemons.

Take the lemons and place them cut side down in the hot pan. Allow them to cook and caramelize until they have charred to your liking. Remove and serve over the tender chicken breast.

Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to five days.

What Can I Serve With This Chicken Dish?

Some of my favorite recipes to serve with chicken like this are my Blistered Green Beans and my Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits, or a side of my Cheesecake Factory Brown Bread.
