Sharing is caring!

Want to make a fun twist and delicious recipe that everyone will love? Try this one for BBQ Hot Dog Burnt Ends. Chop up your favorite hot dogs and bake them in the oven to create these fantastic copycat burnt ends that even the pickiest of eaters will love. No need for a pellet smoker for these babies! The oven is all you need.

I saw someone on Tiktok make this recipe and I knew that I was going to have to give it a try. These are not like traditional burnt ends, but man are they tasty and hit my happy button!

I mean, what's not to love about this recipe? My favorite all beef hot dogs slathered in yellow mustard and baked. Then, taken out of the oven, slathered in my favorite BBQ sauce, and baked some more.

Trust me when I tell you that this recipe needs to be in your life! You can thank me later.

How to Make BBQ Hot Dog Burnt Ends

To make this recipe, you only need a few simple ingredients —

  • 1 package of all beef hot dogs (or your favorite classic hot dog brand)
  • 1 cup of mustard
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • Your favorite tangy BBQ Sauce (ours currently is Kinders Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce) or wet barbecue rub
  • Dry Rub (this is optional)
  • Ziploc bags

Place the hot dogs and the mustard in a zip-lock bag. Add the garlic and onion powder. You can even add your favorite BBQ rub seasoning at this step also. You could also add a little liquid smoke here to give the hot dogs a smoky flavor as well.

Seal the bag and mix well until the mustard coats the hot dogs well.

Remove from the bag and place in a disposable aluminum pan. Bake in a 350-degree oven for one hour. You can also do this on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.

Once the hour is up, remove the hot dogs from the oven. Now, chop them up in the pan and toss the hot dog pieces with the barbecue sauce. For me, the more sauce the merrier!

Place them back in the oven for about 10-15 minutes more.

These delicious treats are a great appetizer, for lunch, dinner, or even as a snack! Serve them alone or with your favorite side like these air fryer corn ribs. Don't forget to add your favorite dipping sauce. They will be a huge hit with anyone you share them with.

Store the remaining leftovers in an airtight container. Reheat in the microwave or in the oven.

I like to serve these hot dog burnt ends with my homemade coleslaw and some fresh-cut french fries.

You can also add these to a hoagie roll and make a delicious hot dog hoagie. Then top with the coleslaw and some dill pickles for a delicious sandwich!

These would be perfect for game day or your next party! Of course, they are not the classic burnt ends made on pellet grills, but they are a close second and have quickly become a family favorite around here.
