The Best Tiramisu

Sharing is caring!

This is the best tiramisu recipe on the Internet. It is my favorite decadent dessert. Each layer contains sweet, creamy mascarpone, and ladyfingers dipped in strong espresso. Finish it off by dusting it with rich chocolate.

If you love this simple tiramisu recipe with whipped cream, try some other no-bake desserts such as my Strawberry Pretzel Salad, Award-Winning No-Bake Gingerbread Pie, and my No-Bake Orange Creamsicle Cheesecake.

Most classic Tiramisu recipes have alcohol in them, but because we do not drink, we usually omit it. Honestly, I cannot tell the difference.

How to Make the Best Tiramisu

My daughter has been making this dessert now for a few years. It's a very simple recipe to throw together. The hardest part is the assembly.

For this recipe you will need —

  • 1 ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 8-ounces mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup cold espresso, or cold strong coffee
  • 1 to 2 packages of ladyfingers
  • 2 to 2 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder

In a bowl with a hand mixer, whip the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. Then reduce the mixer speed to medium and slowly add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract. Mix for 1 to 1 ½ minutes. You can use the KitchenAid mixer if you would prefer that. Just make sure to use the whisk attachment.

Now, add the mascarpone cheese to the mixture and mix just until all the ingredients are incorporated. Set this aside.

Pour the coffee or espresso into a bowl and dip the ladyfingers into the espresso. Dip both sides, do not soak, each ladyfinger in the espresso mixture, and lay the dipped ladyfingers in a single layer in the bottom of an 8×8 baking dish.

Evenly spread half of the cheese mixture on top of the ladyfingers layer. Repeat by dipping the next set of ladyfingers. Lay them in the opposite direction as the ones before. Crisscrossing the ladyfingers will add stability to the dessert.

Now, add the remaining half cheese mixture layer.

Dust the top of the cheese mixture with the cocoa powder. I like to use a sieve to do that. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
