Montreal Steak seasoning is one of those pantry staple blends that you need to have on your shelf.

It is the perfect blend to use on those nights when it’s the perfect night for grilling up some steaks or burgers.

This Montreal seasoning is made right from the spices you already have on hand and offer the perfect balance of savory flavors and tasty herbs.

How to Make Your Own Homemade Montreal Steak Seasoning

Did you know that Montreal steak seasoning originated in a Montreal-based deli? One of their employees experimented with making his own blend of mixes. It was SO popular, all the customers started asking if they could take a bottle home.

There are a few different versions of this out there. However, I combined two or three recipes to create my own version. For me, this is the best one out there.

Montreal Steak Seasoning Ingredients

No one really knows what's in the original version from back in the day. However, after playing around with the flavors, I discovered that the major spices used are salt, pepper, garlic, onion, dill, and cumin.

From this point, what you add is entirely up to you. You can adjust based on your own tastes. But I promise you, the blend I created is absolutely delicious and so full of flavor.

Have you ever fallen backwards on a cloud? I love Montreal steak seasoning, but the store bought is far to salty! Looking for homemade versions, and here I found the #1. Now I nearly omitted the salt, just a few twists, and was left with a heavenly flavor. Mixed into smash burgers and topped with lettuce and mayo on both 1/2s of the buns, a little sriracha and magic, matched with butter boiled red potatoes and asparagus, a little southern sweet peach tea… all homemade! Chefs delighted!!!
