You can have a batch of these wings ready in under 30 minutes for all your game-day watchers. That's the convenience of an Instant Pot! Proteins that take a long time to cook take less time in the Instant Pot.

I don't know about you but I love my Instant Pot for the quick and convenient meals I can prepare. My Instant Pot Broccoli and Cheese Soup and my 3 Ingredient Instant Pot Yogurt are two of my most popular recipes, making me fall in love with the Instant Pot.

So let me show you how easy it is to make these delicious wings.

How to Make Instant Pot Garlic Sesame Wings

For this recipe you will need the following ingredients —

  • 4-4½ lbs. chicken wings
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 c. water
  • White sesame seeds, for garnish

For the sauce, you will need

  • ¼ cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons of honey, preferably local
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger, very finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

This recipe is written for fresh or thawed wings. If using frozen wings, add 3-4 minutes to the active cooking time.

Most grocery stores offer wing packs that have the trimming done for you. However, you can save money by trimming your wings yourself. The flats are my favorite part, but the drummettes are just as delicious. Take the wing tips and freeze them to use for chicken stock, if desired. You can also skip the trimming step altogether and just cook the whole wing.

Season wings with salt and black pepper, to taste. Place metal trivet inside the Instant Pot® and add one cup of water. Arrange the seasoned wings on top of the trivet before securing the cover in place. Switch the vent to “Sealing” and set the “Manual” setting to high pressure for 8 minutes.

Make the Sauce

To prepare the sesame garlic sauce, heat the soy sauce or the coconut aminos, sesame oil, honey, butter, ginger, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the butter is melted and the mixture is thoroughly combined. Remove from heat and set aside. If you want to create a thicker sauce, make a cornstarch slurry and mix it with the sauce.

When the active cook time on Instant Pot® is complete, let the natural release process happen for 10 minutes, then do a quick release for any remaining steam. Remove the lid and transfer the wings to a large bowl. Set aside and cool slightly.

Meanwhile, position the top oven rack in the top position and pre-heat the broiler to high. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire cooling rack on top. Set aside.

Pour 1/3 of the sesame garlic sauce on top of the wings and toss to coat. Transfer the wings to the wire rack on the prepared baking sheet and place under the broiler for 3-4 minutes or until the wings get a nice crispy finish and start to turn color. Turn the wings and repeat on the remaining side.

Remove from oven and toss the wings with half of the remaining sesame garlic sauce. Sprinkle with white sesame seeds and green onions. For a little added kick, you can add some red pepper flakes. Serve immediately with the remaining sauce on the side. Enjoy!

These juicy chicken wings are perfect for your celebration with friends and family while you root your favorite team to victory.
